While critics try to sow doubt with old Tesla marketing stats, the RDW’s independent work speaks for itself:
✅ 1.8 million km of real-world testing on European roads.

🚨 ETSC's Organizational Rejects Tesla's Introduction to FSD Europe
The European Transportation Safety Council has written to transport ministers in major European countries not to acknowledge Tesla's approval of FSD.
The Netherlands, Belgium, Lithuania, Estonia and Denmark, which have already been approved, have been excluded, and other member states are talking about rejecting it because the country will soon have a decision on whether to approve it or not.
Tesla's FSD safety has already been proven incredibly much, and with that data, this move by the ETSC is disappointing, and the delay in the introduction of FSD will create a major setback for the safety of public roads. @elonmusk

It looks like, from May 21, Tesla is removing the one-time FSD purchase option in the EU, leaving only the subscription. This applies in Italy too.
Are you going to buy FSD now, or wait and use the subscription later?
Could this move mean Tesla is confident about a broader FSD release in Europe soon?

BREAKING: 🚨 Tesla now shows that Full Self-Driving and Enhanced Autopilot in Europe will only be available as a one-time purchase until May 21, 2026.
After that date, Tesla says both features will move to a subscription model.
Current Germany pricing:
• Full Self-Driving: €7,500
• Enhanced Autopilot: €3,800
This is one of the clearest signs yet that Tesla is preparing a wider FSD subscription rollout across Europe.

Italian Senator @CarloCalenda has just opened a formal parliamentary question directed to the Ministry of Transportation asking “whether the Minister addressed intends to give priority consideration to the approval of Tesla’s FSD supervised system for the Italian market, to assess the opportunity for direct technical discussions with Tesla and the Dutch authorities (RDW) in order to expedite the process, and, if possible, to provide an indication of the expected timeline for authorization in Italy.”

Updated full agenda of TMCV meeting on May 5th, FSD discussion rescheduled to a full hour between 13:30 and 14:30
A second version of the draft agenda of the 117th meeting of the TCMV committee on 5 May 2026 was published.
The file is named "Agenda TCMV 05.05.2026 v2" and the FSD presentation by the RDW was extended from 20 minutes to one hour.
This is very good news.

Something appears to be moving in Italy for early FSD approval 🇮🇹
The Italian Ministry of Transport has just forwarded a request to speed up the approval by a community member to the transport department and the Italian equivalent of the US DMV.

It’s crazy how slowly things progress in the EU. Apparently, on May 5th there will only be a 20-minute presentation by the Netherlands on an update on Article 39, but no voting yet. The next scheduled meeting is two months later.
We need to push for state by state approval!

I reached out to Italy’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, and here’s what they replied:
✅ Each EU Member State can decide whether to accept it on their territory, as we already know.
✅ Italy is not taking a decision until EU meeting and discussion.
✅ A joint analysis between the European Commission and Member States is planned for May.
They’re taking a cautious cautious approach.
So, we have to wait.
