Never seen a higher density of Perch than in 500m of River Lark at Isleham. Incredible swarms of fry, with characteristically humpy back & black spot on dorsal fin plus lots of small ones. No huge ones but the biggest were all congregated with Roach in this fish cathedral. 2/14

Besides the Roe Deer, omnipresent observers of the Fens, amazing numbers Chinese Water Deer. One in most fields, alone, the Roes being in groups. Distinctive cartoon-like run (effortless across ploughed field) & fluffy ears; one ear slashed by fangs of a rival? #Prickwillow 3/5
Hey @FascinatingFens do you know anyone who could identify this elegant fowl in my back yard? It was a bit smaller than a ring-necked dove and very uniform grey. Darker than most kestrels. I didn't see it fly. Please excuse the terrible photo.
