#MedlineIncident Tracy, CA morning update - The fire continued to rage throughout the night and into the morning and could continue to burn for several days, according to Chief Bradley of the South San Joaquin County Fire Authority And if Chief Bradley is correct that the fire started on the roof, the sprinkler system wouldn't have done much in the early stages since it's designed to control interior fires. Once the roof structure began collapsing, sprinkler mains and branch lines would have failed, creating massive water demand and a significant loss of system pressure. At that point, sprinkler protection in the affected areas would have been lost, and the resulting demand on the water distribution system would have reduced the pressure and available flow to nearby fire hydrants supplied by the same mains. The ATF will be involved in the investigation. Another factor investigators may examine is whether the additional weight of the rooftop solar panels contributed to an earlier structural collapse.
