On the first night of Hanukkah, during an event meant to celebrate Jewish light and resilience, an antisemitic terror attack took place in Sydney.
This violence did not come out of nowhere. “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is a call for the ethnic cleansing of Jews from their historic homeland. “Globalize the intifada” is the next step: the ethnic cleansing of Jews around the world.
Make no mistake. This has nothing to do with Gaza. It is antisemitism, pure and simple. As we saw in Sydney, words matter, and they quickly turn into violent action. Those who refuse to say this out loud are not remaining neutral. They are enabling violence.
The rise in antisemitism is real and undeniable. It is time to face it, call it what it is, and fight it together.
