The way to end the gerrymandering wars is to "give up our fixation on single-member districts and winner-takes-all elections, and use proportional representation." – @SteveMulroy901, district attorney of Memphis & Shelby County, TN on #ProportionalRepresentation
To permanently end redistricting wars, reconsider districts altogether tinyurl.com/59daj3rz

Encouraging to see this conversation between @MichaelRWear & @leedrutman — hopefully a sign of more discussions to come between people of faith & the political reform movement! open.substack.com/pub/thehea…

I spoke with @leedrutman for @CCPublicLife's publication The Heart of the Public regarding the redistricting maelstrom, and Lee's assessment of the possibilities of real political reform in this time of political and social distrust. open.substack.com/pub/thehea…

Proportional representation has long had the overwhelming support of people whose job is to study elections. We wrote this letter with @protctdemocracy in 2022, signed by 200 political scientists and historians. nytimes.com/2022/09/19/us/po…

Why @PeteButtigieg likes proportional representation: “The reason why kitchen table issues can’t get done… is because of these systemic issues.”

If you don’t think “please stop gerrymandering!” will convince either party, proportional representation is for you

Baumgartner is 100% right. Proportional representation is best for everyone. It's just basic fairness.
It would be better for the unity of the future of the Republic if every state’s Congressional representation mirrored their electorate. For example, Washington State is 40% Republican but Rs hold only 2 out of 10 House seats. For representative Democracy to work, people need to feel like they have a fair chance to participate in it. 🇺🇸

At no moment in American history has our winner-take-all districting system worked particularly well. There is no golden age of “fair districts.” The problems have been different at different times. The antiquated voting system that produces them has been there from the start.
I wrote a brief history of gerrymandering in America. It's always been bad. Just never THIS bad. (link below)

"It’s time to shift to the system most of the world’s advanced democracies use: proportional representation."
There's a way out of the redistricting wars - and it's entirely possible without a Constitutional amendment: Ditch the districts and elect members at large with proportional representation and restore voters' voice. But public must demand it. via @opinion bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

The more I read about these ideas in the New York Times, the less radical they start to seem. nytimes.com/2026/05/13/opini…
