Insane cope for Hamilton currently being the fastest driver out there, above the likes of Verstappen, Leclerc etc. at the peak of the careers. We’ve already seen Perez & Bottas against enough other drivers to know where they stood in the previous eras. Even at Racing Point, Checo was off Ocon in qualifying and before that slower than an overweight Hulkenberg as teammates and Button. Bottas on the other hand handily beat Massa for 3 years, and destroyed Zhou and Sauber putting the slowest car in some ridiculous positions particularly in 2024. We can safely say that Bottas isn’t a slower driver than Button over a single lap so either something isn’t working on his side or Perez has found an extra gear that he didn’t have from 2012-24. There’s no inbetween.
I don’t care where Max starts at all tbh, this car has no shot of winning currently More importantly, Perez 5-2 on Bottas, another 2 tenths. Every time this happens it just gets funnier.

Everyone can play the A>B>C>A game if you choose the right pairings. What matters most is what fits into the grand scheme of a drivers career, and how reliable a year is obviously dependent on numerous factors

Not even mentioning VB only completing a handful of laps all weekend (no Qualifying and Race prep either) and using old parts for Quali. Crazy to even talk about seriously, but I guess common sense isn’t for everyone

Right - here is the awaited thread on Hamilton’s brakes. It’s a long story, so be patient 🧵: I’ll start by saying, in F1 there are a few major components that make up braking systems. These are the discs, the callipers, the master cylinder as well as the pedal setup (stiffness, modulation). Every F1 driver has a unique preferred setup regarding these components - and Hamilton’s was to use Brembo callipers (supplied to all teams) mixed with discs and the master cylinder from Carbone Industrie. He used these at McLaren, and when he moved to Mercedes in 2013 he initially adopted a full Brembo system which he initially struggled with. Why? This is where it gets interesting, and what you see in 2026 is quite similar. CI discs are much larger and more powerful than Brembo discs. A lot more powerful, so much so that for 6 months Brembo were unable to replicate this on Hamilton’s 2013 Mercedes - that he made the switch to CI and the rest was history

Replying to @FormulaRana
Rana, I need your help. What is Lewis's career history with brake suppliers? It's so difficult to research this. Remember the big hoopla 2013/14 about him struggling to adjust to Brembos?

It’s literally a factual event
Aún recuerdo cuando este pavo dijo con to su polla en 2024 que Bakú y COTA no contaban para Hamilton por "Coche mal construído". Su fanatismo estÔ varias millas por delante de su capacidad de anÔlisis.

Giving Hamilton a 6.25 in Miami is seriously misinformed. Given he had half a second worth of damage per lap and only finished 20s off the podium, was solid damage limitation. And in the Sprint and SQ had a software issue costing him 2-3 tenths on the straights. Should simply be an N/A (like multiple other drivers have, except LH for some reason)

This is getting out of hand 🤣🤣🤣
Despite a poor showing in Canada there is still a clear main man for Ferrari in 2026. Do you think this will change going into Monaco? šŸ¤”

Building a car that literally disintegrates and blaming the driver for not performing is diabolical management. Bottas was subpar in Canada, but when a driver is multiple seconds off the pace of the next car it points to wider issues. Drivers of Valtteri and Checo’s calibre should never be separated by more than tenths in normal circumstances. At the moment, Cadillac is the net equivalent to HRT/Caterham/Marussia which is embarrassing given their resources. Putting Herta of all drivers in that seat would tell everyone that Cadillac’s true intentions are nothing but a PR stunt
🚨 | Colton Herta is understood to be under strong consideration for a Cadillac seat in 2027. Valtteri Bottas' position is reportedly under particular scrutiny. [@NextgenAuto]

Even if you don’t look at the gap between the cars, Bottas won everything in single seaters before F1 whilst not always having the best team or backing. In F1 he’s won multiple races and faced various different drivers, putting up some impressive numbers prior to 2017 and post 2021. I think it’s safe to assume he’s not 2s off any other racing driver on the planet
