A 24-year-old woman was killed during a bungee jump in Brazil after staff failed to properly attach her to the safety equipment. The incident happened at Ponte do Esqueleto, an abandoned bridge in São Paulo state that has become a popular spot for thrill seekers despite having no official safety oversight.
According to witnesses, the woman fell roughly 35 meters after the crew neglected to check and secure her rope. Three people had jumped before her without issue. When she was pushed off the bridge, bystanders immediately realized something was wrong as she fell without any cord attached.
Staff from the company operating the jump reportedly froze after realizing their mistake and later tried to leave the scene. Police stopped them before they could depart. No arrests have been reported so far.
The woman had paid around $290 for the jump, which included video documentation of the experience.
