We are thrilled the committee did the right thing and refused @Lovell_UK s application on Novers Hill. Thank you to the councillors and officers and everyone who submitted statements and spoke at the meeting. We did it!! People power works! ππ¦π³ππ΄
If you want to protect your Green Spaces donβt vote labour. If they didnβt lose their majority in 2021 the Western Slopes would be gone by now. Thanks to cross party collaboration with every party except labour we were able to overturn their disastrous plans and keep our SNCIπ
Message here from GF is Vote Labour and youβll get hundreds (itβs actually thousands) of well connected, sustainably located homes for Bristol.
Vote green and you wonβt.
Most honest tweet Iβve seen from a green in a while - refreshingβ¦ #VoteWisely#VoteLabour

Itβs a shame you are happy to respond to Paul and not me. Itβs also a shame you canβt say anything about Yew Tree Farm. Thereβs no excuse since the current Cllrs have spoken out against Marvinβs recent actions against @Catherinewith11 so why canβt you start now and respond to me?

And yet you havenβt replied to anyone else on this thread asking you about the environmental destruction happening under Labour just 15 mins from your ward? Not even @Catherinewith11?
This is happening less than 30 days before an election. This is unethical in so many ways. @LabourBristol are rewarding ecocide of the worst kind. Theyβre punishing @Catherinewith11 and giving the lease to someone who supports the Badger cull! π‘we must fight back! Please shareπ

Are you serious? Have you seen what your party is doing to Yew Tree Farm? Have you seen how your leader has dismissed the advice of Avon Wildlife Trust, RSPB and numerous other experts? @Catherinewith11 can you believe this??? π€―avonwildlifetrust.org.uk/bloβ¦
You can start with saving Yew Tree Farm first!!! I canβt believe the audacity of Bristol Labour trying to claim they care about ancient green spaces while they are pushing destruction of a dormice habitat as we speak! #saveyewtreefarm
And yet Kerry is telling us we have to accept that the Meadows must be built over even though her government could commit to stopping it when elected. @KerryMP itβs not too late to make that commitment to us. Labour will be controlling Homes England so they could save us

Unfortunately Iβm not able to relax at the waiting room because while Iβve been injured @MarvinJRees has been going behind our backs to give Yew Tree Farm grazing rights to the people responsible for destroying the dormice habitat. They just officially ended Catherineβs lease π‘

It was nice to run by the Western Slopes on my way home and see the blossoms blooming. Our banners are still there from when we fought the council to save this beloved community asset. Never underestimate people power βπ

Successful day of leafleting and speaking to residents. Iβm really overwhelmed by the kindness and support so many of you have shown me. I promise Iβll pay you back by being a hard working and loyal councillor. π
Remember when Labour still wanted to develop over the Slopes so @nicolabeech said that βouter Bristolβ already has enough green spaces so she βunapologeticallyβ wants to boost sites like castle park instead? Imagine saying a nationally rare SNCI isnβt working hard for nature π€¦π»ββοΈ

4/4...fails to take into account the enormous value of untouched green spaces whose purpose is to 'work hard' for wildlife. They also 'work hard' for local residents in 'the poorest half of the city' who appreciate being next to nature, even if it's not publicly accessible...

3/4 ...3. This notion of green spaces which 'work harder' is, if I understand you correctly, about spaces which have housing, commercial buildings, shops or other facilities/amenities included. I'm basing this on your endorsement of the Castle Park development. Such an approach..

2/4...misleading, and doesn't tell the full story. BS4 may have more open space, but many people can't access it due to lack of transport or mobility issues, or they have no time as they're rushed off their feet. Also, some of these green spaces are not open to the public.

1/4 OK, three things.
1. Building on the Western Slopes and Knowle West Health Park is not bringing nature to the communities of Knowle West and Filwood, it's taking it away. Don't know how many times this needs saying.
2. Basing your argument purely on statistics is just...

...Please reread my tweets from July when you first posted this dataset. Again, stats do not tell the whole story. Nor can BCC continue to keep predictably framing this debate as a collision course between housing and nature. You all really need to start actually listening to us.

...And should South Bristol really be penalised simply because it has more green space than the City Centre? Well, of course it has, because you've lumped all the outer urban green spaces together, to justify this clumsy and inappropriate 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' approach...

This again? If you really insist on boiling this argument down to numbers, I'll objectively refer you to the stats from a raft of RECENT surveys, which make the overwhelming case for not building on the Western Slopes.
