Yesterday, Ambassador McDonald joined members of the diplomatic corps and Lithuanian government, representatives from the Lithuanian Jewish community, and many others to attend International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration, organized by the Israeli Embassy. The event featured a performance of The Witness, a play that tells the story of Avraham Sutzkever, a renowned Yiddish poet and founding member of the Paper Brigade. A discussion with Hadas Kalderon (the playwright and Sutzkever’s granddaughter) and Michael Hanegbi, the actor portraying Sutzkever was after the performance.
