Right now, a Trump mega-donor is trying to take control of Thames Water We can't let him Email your MP and ask them to sign our open letter rejecting the deal - weownit.org.uk/email-mp-tham… Thames Water should be in special administration, not in the hands of polluting US hedge funds

Thames Water treatment site in Oxfordshire is the most offending sewage work in England. 2021 - 2025: 287 illegal sewage dumps. Marine life and biodiversity destroyed. Danger to human health. Execs rewarded, dividends paid, investment neglected. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwyd…

It does not have to be like this. Time to stop behaving like helpless victims of corporate greed. These are our waters, not the water companies'. And together we have the power, not just to make it a bit better, but to make it stop.

What’s your niggling pedantic linguistic annoyance? One of mine (I have many of course) is using the word ‘wrought’ when referring to things made with modern mild steel. This is true wrought iron. A nice simple little latch, poss 17/18th cent. Lovely streaky wrought iron :-)

"Thames Water creditors offer ‘best and final’ rescue funding deal." It really is time govt out a stop to this nonsense. This year alone has cost customers an extra £800 million in interest payments. It's time to put Thames Water back into public ownership. cityam.com/thames-water-cred…

"Welsh Water set to pay out £44.7m over sewage spills Ofwat said it found “serious and unacceptable” breaches in Welsh Water’s sewage works systems and operations." And here's the really scary part in all of this, none of this, none of it would have come to light had it not been for you, the general public, you're the heroes in all of this, the ones that stand in our rivers, that are prepared to be counted, that are prepared to hold authority to account. My respect. 👏👏👏 independent.co.uk/news/busin…

Our rivers are dying and these are the people responsible, these people in charge. In Dec last year the Office for Environmental Protection ruled that Defra, Ofwat and the EA have been breaking the law. What has the Secretary of State done about any of that? Appears she know's nothing and has done nothing. 😡
Replying to @BarryGardiner
A simple enough question… Does the Secretary of State consider the EA response is adequate? Thanks to the Committee chair who had to intervene to press for a clear answer.

"Salmon fishing banned from Hampshire’s River Test." The Environment Agency was established in 1995 with a specific legal obligation to "to maintain, improve and develop", "fisheries of salmon, trout, eels". And what's it achieved in the last 31 years? The entire UK population of Atlantic salmon is now on the endangered species list along with black rhinos, tigers and mountain gorillas while the number of salmon now returning to the River Test to spawn are deemed to be at "critically low levels". Hell of a job the boys, hell of a job. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/03…

A year ago today Farage and his partner bought a house in Clacton, in cash, worth £885,000. Nigel told the world he bought it, but when it transpired he didn't pay enough stamp duty (he owns 4 other properties) they said his partner paid and he had lied. However, she does not have that kind of money so it only raised more questions. Who paid? Did they dodge tax? Was it Russian money? Was it from the ongoing fraud case in the EU? Was it a bribe? Considering he could be the next PM, the public have a right to know. Why is the media silent on this?! We won't forget Nigel, and we won't let the media forget.

American insurance company Assured Guaranty, who already insures $15bn worth of water company debt wants nothing more to do with England's water companies including Thames Water who are desperately trying to refinance and can't. As the saying goes, this sh*t is about to get really serious. Long overdue.

The water scandal will be as big as Post Office Horizon @Feargal_Sharkey In December of last year, 24,000 homes in the South East went without drinkable water for nearly two weeks. Thames Water, which has sought permission to be allowed to continue breaching pollution limits, is on the brink of collapse, and lately water companies have been sending bailiffs to people’s homes to collect unpaid bills. The bitter irony, of course, is that the service water bosses are forcing on us – and “forced” is the right word, given you can’t change your provider – is simply not worth the money It is an absolute disgrace what has happened to our water. Must be dealt with! @ofwat

So, the Minister said Thames Water would be taken into temp/permanent public ownership when water stopped coming out of taps. How many taps and for how long? Do a certain number of people have to get ill or die, Minister Hardy @DefraGovUK and @Keir_Starmer
