We used CRISPRi to understand how depletion of LptD affects E. coli survival. We previously identified this protein as an attractive target for new antibiotics with selective toxicity against E. coli.

On average, for every ten UTI patients who own a dog, there is one dog carrying the E. coli strain responsible for the infection. This is the first study providing a clue to how often UTI patients share the infecting strain with their beloved pets.
