Sub tweet. Not all blind people use screen readers and not all users of screen readers are blind. Blindness is not a binary. Low vision is also a thing. PDFs are not accessible to many low vision users. No matter how you make them or how well they are supported.

I have not handed over my mum to her nursing home, she’s there after a very difficult decision that we needed help, we pay for that help. The provider seems to be taking ownership of her rights & telling us what we can do. Unacceptable. @rightsforresid2

Here’s a photo of my 93 year old grandma, locked inside her care home. When this photo was taken, we were trying to explain to her why we couldn’t give her a hug.

Try our world of "the Care Home Debâcle." Full PPE (even outside in some cases) timed appointments and regulations that make insanity seem sane. We are fighting to get back to our LOVED ONES and nobody hears our screams of despair and grief.😱

Next week I'm going to make a six hour round trip to visit my mum in her care home. I'm allowed a 30 min (although they may be generous and push it to 60 min) visit with her sitting in a doorway and me shouting to her through a mask.

Figures: week ending 4.6.2021 No. of deaths of people living in care homes (all causes) =1941 No. of deaths of people living in care homes (Covid) =30. Why do Govt continue to subject the most highly vaccinated group to the most restrictions during the last period of their lives?

Thank you
I don’t understand the governments #carehome visiting guidance The public have a road map back to normal life and yet care home residents have nothing other than a risk adverse visiting guidance @Helen_Whately @MattHancock residents can’t be prisoners - where is their road map?

Social care neglected in budget. But I argue in @themjcouk most urgent crisis, elderly in care homes neglected by Gov's over-cautious approach. Councils should champion face-to-face mtgs with families. 3 cheers for @rightsforresid2 for pushing back on this academyofideas.org.uk/docume…

When I worked with prisons (previous job) a governor told me prison staff often had a non-progressive 'close it down' mentality. A good day in a prison is when nothing happens. I fear many care homes now have this mindset & are acting only out of fear not care @rightsforresid2
