In 1932 and 1933, Joseph Stalin’s Soviet regime inflicted a deliberate famine across Ukraine. The Holodomor — ‘death by hunger’ — was a genocide that starved millions of innocent Ukrainians. In the face of these horrors, Ukrainians endured, protecting their language, their culture, and their identity. When Canada recognized Ukraine’s independence 33 years ago, we knew then what we reaffirm now — that Ukraine must remain free and independent, and its future must be decided by its own people. Yesterday a jr. employee reached out to me to give me some negative feedback about a decision I made. Inside I was celebrating. When a jr. employee feels psychologically safe enough to give the CEO negative feedback, you know you've built a healthy culture.

Councilman Greenlee has always been an advocate for working people and the most vulnerable among us. We’ll miss his voice on Council, but wish him well on his retirement after decades in public service.
After much thought I have decided to not seek re-election to City Council. It has been my honor to serve the citizens of Philadelphia.

Trying to imagine Surgeon General C Everett Koop taking this approach to the HIV epidemic. And the opioid crisis is killing more Americans than HIV did at its 1995 peak. x.com/statnews/status/941722…
