I know there's people that can relate to this. I'm now realizing something else, and feeling indifferent looking back at ten dragging years of #HPPD Then again, that's a decade I've survived -- found a way to get through the most difficult days and adapt to change. Keep moving.
When I first realized I had this as a teenager, I had to find out myself. Not a single doctor or specialist could tell me what was wrong. There was very little information on the internet at the time, and what I did see scared me. I had no one to talk to about this.

I honestly don't know how I got through the first year. Very stressful on me, barely 17 and trying to take in this madness alone -- Uncertainty defined the rest of my teenage years. But, still here; it should say something that I'm still here ♥️

#HPPD people!! I just got word of a research survey from @EdPrideaux and @PerceptionFdn! This is the most in-depth research questionnaire on HPPD and post-drug visual changes! This is imperative to getting better numbers; understanding the complexeties of HPPD! #VisualSnow

Curious detail in a paper on Visual Snow Syndrome, of which HPPD has been variously deemed a subtype. Some interpret their 'HPPD' - as with voice-hearing and visions in the traditional psychosis spectrum - as being of mystical origin. The same can apply to VSS!

Unfortunately there’s a misconception that antidepressants are harmless, and that you can just come off them if the side effects get too much. This is not the case. My side effects never went away and I’ve been off them for 2 years

The HPPD issue has come a long way. From no seat at the table and stigma to serious talks at one of the world's best research universities. Finally, people are starting to open up to these drugs' serious risks. There's still so far to go, though. We're just getting started.

It's weird. There's a huge and active Facebook group with thousands of members and I've seen almost no coverage of it

#HPPD, despite the name, doesn't have to be drug-induced. Symptoms likely share a common pathophysiology with #Migraine. I know migraineurs who only see trails before an episode. Treatment for HPPD is out there now, its just not being recognized. #VSS headachejournal.onlinelibrar…

How come no-one is talking about HPPD (hallucinogen persisting perception disorder). It's a real thing, not a DNA scramble scare story. A friend of mine shroomed for two years -- ulp! Here's the skinny: bit.ly/3zE9mX3

Whether dopamine triggers or reflects the appetite to mate has been unclear. Until now. Turns out that dopamine triggers desire to mate. Suppression of the same dopamine neurons triggers abstinence. Powerful stuff (dopamine). nature.com/articles/s41586-0…
