Trumps USA bliver værre og værre.
Tennessee is sending letters to immigrant parents of disabled and terminally ill children enrolled in a last-resort public health program β kids on ventilators, kids with cancer, kids in wheelchairs - telling them that if their child keeps receiving medical care after June 30, the state will report them to ICE.
This program has existed for over 50 years. It has never required immigration status. Until now.
Children's Special Services is Tennessee's last-resort public health insurance program for low-income kids with the most severe disabilities and life-threatening illnesses - kids with no other coverage, no other options. The state just sent letters to at least 90 Nashville families giving them an impossible choice: keep your child alive, or stay invisible.
One mother, Gabriella, has a 10-year-old son born with spina bifida who requires near-monthly emergency care. They're six months from a final ruling on their asylum case. She said if they're sent back to Honduras, "he's not going to make it."
Here's the part that should make your head explode: the law Tennessee is using to justify this explicitly applies only to people 18 and older. These are children. Pediatricians, advocates, and lawmakers are all saying the state is misapplying its own law to reach kids it was never meant to cover.
The Tennessee Justice Center says the directive is unlawful and is preparing a legal challenge. But families are afraid to come forward as plaintiffs. Because coming forward means being seen.
The state health department has not responded to a single press request for comment.

A hundred years ago, the eastern bluebird was one of the most common birds in the country. Then it nearly disappeared.
Here's the problem: a bluebird can't build its own home. Neither can a chickadee or a wren. They're cavity nesters with no tools to dig a hole, so they move into ones that already exist: an old woodpecker hole, a rotted knot in a tree, a hollow in a dead limb, a soft spot in a wooden fence post.
Then we launched a relentless effort to tidy the world and put everything in its right place.
We cut down the dead trees, the "ugly" snags, and hauled them off. We swapped the old wooden fence posts for metal. We cleaned up every hollow stump and dying branch. And just like that, the nesting spots were gone.
Worse, two birds we'd imported from Europe, house sparrows and starlings, muscled into the few cavities left and threw the bluebirds out. By the 1970s, bluebird numbers had fallen by nearly 90%.
Here's where things began to turn. Ordinary people started nailing wooden boxes to posts. Just boxes, with a hole the right size. And the bluebirds came back, all the way back, one of the greatest comebacks in American conservation, built almost entirely by regular folks in their own yards with a little lumber.
So here's where you come in. A nest box isn't a cute decoration. It's a replacement for the dead tree we took down, a hole in the world for a bird that can't make its own.
Put one up, with the correct hole size for the bird you want, on a smooth pole a predator can't climb, and you stop being a bystander to that story.

And you can be broke, medically uninsured, evicted, and still experience the world through a passport that whispers, in a thousand small ways, that you are better than the people on the other side of the border.
The empire gave you nothing that keeps you warm at night.
But it gave you the feeling.
And the feeling turned out to be enough.
To keep voting. To keep defending. To keep directing your anger at the people below you and the foreigners outside you.
And never quite at the people above you who designed the whole arrangement and are laughing, in their way, at how well it holds.

BREAKING: Iran says the US has agreed to pay $300 billion in reconstruction funds directly to Iran as part of the deal Pakistan announced, alongside the release of $24 billion in frozen funds with $12 billion released before negotiations even start, per Mehr News.
This directly contradicts Trump's & Vance's claim that no funds will be transferred to Iran at all.
If Trump denies this is true, there never was a deal. If Trump confirms, the US has fully capitulated to Iran's demands.
