Exciting news to share - I accepted an Assistant Professor position to start my lab at Seattle Children's Research Institute and @uwpediatrics! I start on July 1st in the Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine. chavkinlab.com
I can’t wait to see @MTorrescnic, @makinenlab, @MarionaGraupera and @HirschiLab at this year’s Seeon meeting, where they will discuss concepts of cellular fitness, competition, and clonality in the cardiovascular system. For applications, visit: vwfb.de.
Excited to share our now-published work showing that obesity accelerates EndoMT in adipose tissue! @FrontCVMedicine. Using lineage-tracing mouse models, human cell culture assays, and human scRNAseq datasets, we show that obesogenic diet promote EndoMT.

Really amazing study here - outstanding work from @WesleyAbplanalp @StefanieDimmel1. I was able to help write a News & Views on this article as well:

New technique that helped identify how small clone sizes in CHIP have large effects.
Clonal hematopoiesis affects only a small number of cells in the blood. @WesleyAbplanalp now developed a method that demonstrates the specific effect in the mutated cells. Not only monocytes but also T-cells are affected! Learn more here: nature.com/articles/s44161-0…@NatureCVR
Cool comparisons between different vascular beds and the endothelium within them. Thanks to @Luke_Dunaway and @melissa_luse for co-leading the way on this.
Our latest preprint is up! Check out mine and @melissa_luse work investigating endothelial heterogeneity in obesity using bulk seq, scRNA seq, and some beautiful en face imaging of arterial endothelial mitochondria! @conn_pann_funbiorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Congrats to postdoc Yinyu Wu on her recent @Dev_Cell paper titled "MicroRNA-223 limits murine hemogenic endothelial cell specification and myelopoiesis". Great work! 👏🎉@UVACVRC@YaleCVRC@MedicineUVA@YaleGenetics
In our latest episode, we discuss a study from the lab of Dr. Karen Hirschi (@HirschiLab) at @Yale.
Her lab identified miR-223 as a negative regulator of murine hemogenic endothelial cell specification and #myelopoiesis.

Congratulations to grad student Ola Cwiek for winning the Hiroko Nishimura Award for best trainee presentation at the CHRC's Pediatrics Annual Research Symposium! Fantastic work! 👏
I was awarded the Hiroko Nishimura award for the best trainee presentation during the 35th Pediatrics Annual Research Symposium at @UVA_CHRC, and I learned a lot about prematurity from @MugliaLouis! 🎉 @HirschiLab@uva_bims@UVa_CellBio
Dr. karen Hirschi on “role of endothelial cell hyperproliferation and AVMs”
📌 Data showing control of endothelial cell proliferation prevents AVM formation.
⁉️ Can endothelial cell cycle inhibitors be used to treat AVMs?

I'm excited to announce the publication of my latest article from @HirschiLab , titled "Connexin-43 mediated Neurovascular Interactions regulate Neurogenesis in the Adult brain subventricular zone," in Cell Reports. @uva_ec@UVa_CellBio@UVACVRC
Wonderful time at the Vascular Cell Biology @GordonConf in Ventura last week! Really inspiring work presented by everyone involved, thanks to @AranyLab for organizing a great meeting. Excited for the next one in January 2025!
Congratulations to our grad student @CwiekAleksandra for receiving an @AHAScience Predoctoral Fellowship studying retinoic acid regulation of placental vascularization! So well deserved! 👏👏👏 @UVa_CellBio
Congratulations to the members of the BIMS 2020 cohort who have completed their quals/proposal defense and have advanced to CANDIDACY! 💙🧡
We were honored to have @DeanMKibbe join us and share her experiences at the bench and encouraging words for the time ahead. @MedicineUVA
