Thank you to all Democrats and Republicans who stood with workers today and passed this monumental legislation in the House💪👊…Senate you’re up next #LFG
TEAMSTERS-LED FASTER LABOR CONTRACTS ACT PASSES U.S. HOUSE WITH BIPARTISAN SUPPORT With bipartisan support, the U.S. House of Representatives today passed the Faster Labor Contracts Act (FLCA), a Teamsters-led bill that could become the strongest new labor legislation for American workers in generations. Just three weeks prior, the discharge petition filed by Congressman Donald Norcross (D-NJ, 1st District) received the 218 signatures needed to force a vote on the landmark law that would hold employers accountable for delaying first union contracts.     “The Faster Labor Contracts Act is the most consequential labor bill to come before Congress in decades. Its bipartisan passage out of the House of Representatives is a significant milestone for millions of American workers,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. “The 1.3-million member Teamsters Union has worked tirelessly to build a coalition of Democrats, Republicans, and independents who are committed to improving the lives of working people. Millions of workers at Amazon and other major companies who are fed up with being overworked, underpaid, and undervalued are organizing their unions today in record numbers. We can no longer tolerate a broken system that allows corporations to corruptly drag out negotiations and shirk their legal obligations to bargain fair first union contracts. The FLCA has a real shot to right generations of wrongs and level the playing field for workers. The Teamsters are eager for the Senate to take up this urgent legislation and ensure it lands on the President’s desk.”    The FLCA would amend the National Labor Relations Act to require employers to bargain with newly organized workers within 10 days of voting to form their union. Establishing a reasonable timeline for all parties to negotiate in good faith, the legislation provides a path to mediation if no agreement is reached within 90 days and a referral to arbitration to ensure first contracts can be fairly resolved.    The Senate version of the bill, introduced last year by Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), continues to gain strong bipartisan support.    “The Teamsters Union is grateful to all members of the U.S. House who had the courage to stand with workers, to put aside partisan politics, and to advance this legislation,” said Teamsters General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman. “Right now, hardworking Americans are forced to wait 458 days on average for their employers to stop playing games, get to the table, and negotiate first union contracts. With the full support of the Teamsters Union, the FLCA will put an end to this corporate corruption and give workers the opportunity they deserve to lead better lives and rebuild the American middle class. The Teamsters thank Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D, NY-08) and House Republicans and Democrats who did the right thing to bring this important bill to the floor. The Senate must schedule its own markup and pass the FLCA as soon as possible.”

Tomorrow the U.S. House will vote on the bipartisan Faster Labor Contracts Act. With this vote, it will be unequivocally clear who’s supporting American workers in both word and action — and who’s just paying lip service to get re-elected. The Faster Labor Contracts Act is THE bill. And now is the time. Are you standing with workers or are you standing in our way? #resultsnotexcuses. @HouseGOP @HouseDemocrats

TEAMSTERS CELEBRATE BIPARTISAN PUSH TO ADVANCE FASTER LABOR CONTRACTS ACT Today, the U.S. House of Representatives reached the 218 signatures needed on a discharge petition to advance the Faster Labor Contracts Act. The petition, filed by Representative Donald Norcross (D-NJ, 1st District), will force a vote on the bill in the coming weeks. “Securing the support needed to move the Faster Labor Contracts Act forward is a significant milestone for millions of Teamsters and workers across this country,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. “This is one of the most consequential labor bills to come before Congress in generations. It has the potential to hold Corporate America accountable for endlessly dragging out negotiations and denying workers the first union contracts they deserve. The Teamsters Union thanks every Democrat and Republican who signed the discharge petition and made the choice to stand with workers.” The Teamsters applaud House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY, 8th District), Rep. Donald Norcross, Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA, 3rd District), and House Democrats for supporting the Teamsters and working people across America. The Teamsters commend Republican Representatives Mike Lawler (R-NY, 17th District), Nick LaLota (R-NY, 1st District), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA, 1st District), Don Bacon (R-NE, 2nd District), Max Miller (R-OH, 7th District), Riley Moore (R-WV, 2nd District), and Rob Bresnahan (R-PA, 8th District), who stood up for working people and helped force action on this critical bill. The Faster Labor Contracts Act would amend the National Labor Relations Act to require employers to bargain with newly organized workers within 10 days of voting to form their union. The Senate version of the bill, introduced last year by Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), continues to gain bipartisan and bicameral support.

THANK YOU AG ELLISON When a lawsuit was filed challenging Minnesota’s ban on captive audience meetings, we got to work defending this pro-worker law. The Court of Appeals dismissed the lawsuit and today, the Supreme Court left that dismissal in place. This is a great day for MN.

Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien, General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman, and the Teamsters Human Rights and Diversity Commission held a ceremony today to unveil a new bust of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at Teamsters Headquarters in Washington, DC. The bust now on display honors the special relationship shared between Dr. King and the Teamsters Union during his lifetime and beyond. Dr. King was a supporter of many Teamsters causes, which the union recognized by naming him an honorary Teamster in 2023. With this new installation, Dr. King’s legacy with the Teamsters Union will forever be part of our story. “Dr. King didn’t just fight for civil rights. He was one of the most important labor leaders in our country’s history, and we are honored to help preserve his legacy,” O'Brien said. “I hope this permanent installation reminds rank-and-file Teamsters of the sacrifices made by generations before — and serves as inspiration to future generations to forever carry the torch of making Dr. King’s dream of equality a reality for all workers in America.”

The Faster Labor Contracts Act is bipartisan in both the House and Senate and has the votes to pass mark-up in Chair Cassidy’s Committee. We appreciate Chair Cassidy’s interest in dialogue on labor reform, but instead of introducing legislative packages that will not receive bipartisan support, Chair Cassidy should schedule a mark-up on a serious bill like the Faster Labor Contracts Act.

When workers vote to form a union, they should have a seat at the bargaining table. But too often, companies stall the process, leaving workers without a voice. The Faster Labor Contracts Act fixes that. Join me, the @Teamsters, and @reppetestauber live at 2 pm to introduce the bill: youtube.com/watch?v=Ppe_LGdu…
