She also lacks charisma, with people tuning in to laugh at her incoherence and stupidity. Nor will the Trump-light schtick play well here. In Australia unlike the US, the media has little respect for politicians, and subjects them to much closer scrutiny. She is peaking now because as a fringe dweller she wasn't taken seriously. The real heat hasn't yet arrived, but it is coming soon. And "please explain" won't cut it anymore.
Many of those who indicate their support for Hanson in polls do so in the expectation that she won't win: the Abeline paradox. In effect they are protesting against the major parties, knowing an actual election is years away and Hanson will be exposed as totally ill-equipped for government or anything more than infantile burka stunts and repetitious claims of having "a gutful" of something. She will make absurd statements against immigration but is far too lazy to do any policy development or even turn up to fulfill her Senate duties. She will also avoid the media except for her embarrassing cheersquad at @SkyNewsAust that no-one watches. Those who claim to represent battlers don't fly in private jets gifted by a billionaire mining magnate. When it all falls apart, and it won't take long, it will have achieved nothing other than splitting the conservative vote and the Murdoch press. @AlboMP must not be able to believe how lucky he is!

Yep, which has been the case for decades. The idea that the US had to be tricked into bombing Iran by a crafty Netanyahu is absurd and displays an ignorance of US foreign policy after WW2. Equally ridiculous is the suggestion that Israel can wean itself off its dependence on Washington.
The entire discussion about whether Israel will or will not accept any agreement between the US and Iran is a waste of time, nothing but an exercise in smoke and mirrors. Israel will do as it is told because it has no choice but to do precisely as it is told. If Israel rejects or acts to undermine the agreement, and does so without consequence, that is because it has been authorized and perhaps encouraged to do so by Washington. It really is that simple.

Until we see the detail we can't be sure but this will confuse the 'wag the dog' brigade
Netanyahu has decided to accept the Iranian deal. Security officials are despondent and see it as a disaster. Ynet brings some high level quotes from them: 1) A senior Israeli official said "Nobody is happy with this. We understand it is not good for us, and that it harms Israeli interests. What is troubling is that Israel cannot influence it. Its voice is not being heard." 2) The anger at Trump is palpable.: "Trump screwed us, we took the hit. We're no longer in the loop and can't really influence anything." 3) Israelis fear Iran will be economically revived: "They've blown money on the Iranians, who are getting everything they want. They'll build a missile corps, and we'll have to pour money into interceptors." Israel sees oil revenue flowing back into the exact capabilities the war was meant to degrade. 4) They don't believe a deal will adequately deal with the nuclear issue: "The real test of the deal is removing the uranium and destroying it. If that doesn't happen, the sense of a bad deal will turn into something more concrete." 5) They fear this will embolden Iran: "Iran has smelled that it can achieve things by force, and it will use that against its neighbors and against us." 6) The deepest worry is not military. It is perception. After months of direct fire, Iran is seen across the region as the side that took the pressure and did not fold: "the regional working assumption will be that it was signed under Iranian pressure and American capitulation, rather than the reverse." Israel is concerned that Iran will be stronger, the US will be weaker and that the future for it will be bleak in the region. This war has been a disaster for Israel.

It won't be long before @PaulineHansonOz's confrontational rhetoric - nudged along nicely by the media - turns to violence. Mark my words.

Indonesia's 24 year killing spree in East Timor was, according to the Catholic Church, the greatest slaughter relative to a population since the Holocaust. It was before the days of social media and only snippets were caught on film - such as the Santa Cruz cemetery murders. The Indonesians got away with it with few, if any diplomatic, economic or political consequences. Will Israel also get away with its genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza? This will be a good test of the enduring influence of social media and the power of the internet to preserve our historical memories.

There are a lot of things Hugh White says that I disagree with, but this a good summary of why we shouldn't buy nuclear-powered AUKUS subs and why we will never get them anyway youtube.com/watch?v=b6vLO5qV…

Iranian FM Araghchi is live on Iranian state TV discussing the proposed MOU. Declines to spell out the specific terms but does offer some broad details he says are covered:
Iran FM: The end of war on all fronts, including Lebanon, will be announced... US commits to not initiating war or using threats... Strait of Hormuz and lifting of the naval blockade are included in the agreement... A mechanism has been formulated for Iran's frozen funds.

A shameful and embarrassing outrage. I hope common sense prevails.
Friends, many of you have contacted me about the FreePress "story" and that I am set to be deported. I haven't had a chance to write, but will do so shortly on my Substack to explain what happened. Thank you all for all the support you have shown! tritaparsi.substack.com/

Ditto for the @nytimes
This appears half way down the @WSJ homepage, a sign of diminishing interest? The U.S., Iran and chief mediator Pakistan agreed that a peace deal to end the war was nearly complete, though an initial agreement would only kick-start the hardest part of nuclear negotiations over the coming months wsj.com/world/middle-east/tr…

Prabowo is a war criminal but Robbins has no problem with that and enjoying "meaningful experiences" and "our time together". Perhaps he could ask the people of West Papua about their "meaningful experiences" with the Indonesian President?
Replying to @TonyRobbins
Grateful beyond words for our time together, all the meaningful experiences, and the friendship we share. Thank you, President Prabowo. I look forward to seeing you again. More to come… stay tuned. 🔥
