It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our colleague Eyal Shimoni. Eyal passed away this morning after a serious illness. Eyal was part of the ISM board for many years and served as the secretary and chair of ISM between the years 2009-2017.

The 56th Annual Meeting of the Israel Society for Microscopy will be held on May 23rd, 2023 at the Binyanei Hauma - ICC, Jerusalem. The meeting will be preceded by a tutorial workshop on "Image Processing in Microscopy" on May 22nd at the Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot.

Titanium 'Boulder Field', Paul Gunning - Electrochemically produced micro-crystals of titanium deposited on a machined titanium alloy surface give the appearance of a boulder field. Visualising surface treatments and micro-structure can help understand bulk properties such as the corrosion resistance or bio-compatibility of such materials as used for medical device applications. 5kV, stage tilted, field-width 15.5æm.
