More reaction from our academics to the US election result, this time from politics expert, Dr @EmiliaBelknap.
She says the roadmap to Trump's current win can be traced back to beyond his victory in 2016. 👇
ALT Woman with dark hair and wearing a dark grey jacket and trousers sitting cross-legged and facing the camera. Dr Emilia Belknap says: "Trump’s victory is the culmination of the populous realignment found in 2016, with not only the white working class and evangelicals sticking by him but also adding young male voters and the Black and Hispanic working class. The Democratic advantage in the early vote was significantly reduced, with fewer Democrats voting by mail and more Republican voters attending early voting. As ever, the glass ceiling remains intact in the USA, and women’s reproductive rights remain at risk."
