How do these guys ever get a platform when he is talking plain objectively factual nonsense? Answer = Political theatre for anti-imperialists in the form of an anti-AUKUS inquiry. Our country deserves better.
According to 🇦🇺’s former Deputy Ambassador to 🇨🇳 in the 1970s, 🇦🇺 ships transiting from Southeast Asia to Northeast Asia through the Taiwan Strait are undertaking “hostile provocative actions”. He also argues that the “One China Principle” is international law. Quite what either of those claims has to do with 🇦🇺’s acquisition of nuclear-powered subs is unclear. Interesting testimony nonetheless. A factually incorrect interpretation of international law on multiple points. Notably, none of the commissioners challenged those assertions. AUKUS Public Inquiry. Day 1.

Good to catch up with President Alex Stubb of Finland at his residence in Naantali. Much has changed since President Stubb and I were both foreign ministers in the early 2010’s. President Stubb is now bringing together leaders from across politics, business and civic institutions as Finland, the Nordics and Europe respond to their new trade and security reality. @alexstubb

How the hell does an invasion force just decide they can stay in the areas they have invaded? Security zones my arse, just blatant bloody land grabs as they do 😡
BREAKING: Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has said he and PM Benjamin Netanyahu are leading a clear policy that Israeli forces will remain in the "security zones" in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza, according to Reuters. 🔴 More on Aljazeera.com

Fact that #PaulineHanson is leading polls as preferred Prime Minister tells us we must legislate to stop #compulsoryvoting. There are too many irresponsible people out there who must never be forced to vote. Hanson rides popularity surge as preferred PM thenewdaily.com.au/news/poli…

Thank you for your input Don, and I do understand the legislation reasonably well It was Dreyfus who appointed Paul Brereton to what was essentially a blank slate (if you're familiar with the NACC Act, it's deliberately vague) and it was Dreyfus as the presiding Attorney General who offered little input or direction As it is, the NACC has developed itself into what it sees as a public education and conferencing team, involving large amounts of travel and resources, with hard core investigations running a very poor third. That is on Brereton, but it is also on Dreyfus, which is I suspect, a part of the reason he is no longer Attorney General

I joined @trtworld this wk to discuss Iran’s strategy during the recent escalation, why Jordan appeared to be a key focus of Iranian attacks, & where the conflict may head next. While the last 24hrs indicate we may be closer to an interim agreement than at any previous point, the core issues between the US & Iran are likely to remain unresolved for sometime. In the early hours of this morning, I directed our Armed Forces to intercept a shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to pass through the English Channel. This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fueling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not let them hide. I want to thank those involved, including our Armed Forces and law enforcement officers who keep this country safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

As I worked from my beach office this morning a woman approached me for a chat. It turned out she followed me on X, but didn’t want to identify herself “in case I’ve said something bad in response to one of your tweets”. Proposition: Never tweet what you wouldn’t say in-person.

PetroChina just sold its stake in Australia's LARGEST undeveloped gas resource for $225 M. It paid $1.63 BILLION for it in 2012. An 86% loss, in the middle of a gas crisis. Woodside exercised its pre emptive right to buy PetroChina's 10.67% of Browse blocking a sale to Japan's Inpex. $225M cash, plus $175M more only IF the project reaches final investment decision by 2032. Even the upside case prices Browse at a fraction of its 2012 valuation. Why Woodside blocked Inpex? This was was a control buy. Inpex wanted Browse gas for its own Ichthys plant in Darwin. Woodside needs it to backfill the declining North West Shelf LNG trains. $225M is the price of keeping a rival's hands off your future feedstock. Here's what the price collapse teaches a resource is not a reserve. Browse has world-class molecules but 14 years of stalled approvals, no FID, no route to market. Gas you can't liquefy and ship is worth almost nothing, no matter what spot LNG trades at. Same rule that's run through everything this year: value lives in the route, not the molecule. Qatar's problem is a chokepoint. Browse's problem is a decade of paperwork. Different cause same lesson. The market pays for barrels that can MOVE. Everything else is geology.

During Winston’s interrogation in the Ministry of Love, O’Brien explains the mechanism of total control: “Where does the past exist, if at all?” “In records. It is written down.” “In records. And—?” “In the mind. In human memories.” “In memory. Very well, then. We, the Party, control all records, and we control all memories. Then we control the past, do we not?” ~1984, George Orwell~
