Low income housing at greatest risk of overheating in summer. Lewisham’s A20 prime example. Densely built flats. Constant gridlock and traffic house means residents can’t open windows. No street trees for shade. @LewishamCouncil any A20 improvement plans? theguardian.com/uk-news/2025…

On a recent interrail trip in Poland and Lithuania tourist tax was charged at all destinations. It’s just 1-2 euros per night - the price of a coffee - and has been used to improve infrastructure for residents and tourists. London needs a tourist tax @MayorofLondon

🔴London is the most congested city in Europe. 🔴Dept Transport data: c3 million vehicles in 2023, the lowest since 2013. 🔴Drivers in the capital spent an average 101 hours sitting in traffic last year Fewer cars, but more congestion. 🤡

🔴34% of Londoners use the bus at least three times a week - 1.8 billion journeys in 2024. 🔴People on lower incomes and women tending to use them more than others. 🔴TfL says 74% of buses are slower than a decade ago. Result ⬇️

When doing traffic displacing road closures (LTNs), TfL and the council gaslight the public over the adverse impact on road safety, air pollution, road surface degradation, emergency services, utilities, schools, bus times, hospital appt attendance etc.. As night follows day.

SoS @Heidi_Labour, has commissioned advice from @activetraveleng and @TfL on floating bus stops. Both these organisations & their senior officers have designed, introduced, supported or funded bus stop designs that the government has halted because they are so problematic.

One of the 700 diseases linked to air pollution. @wesstreeting cleaning up the air at source has to be part of the big prevention programme otherwise it will be impossible to tackle the huge burden of ill health which is costing the tax payer £500 million a week @RachelReevesMP

In London, a superhighway mentality drives cycling policy with young males dressed for the Tour de France demanding the right of way. Infrastructure needs to be accompanied by a change in culture, it shouldn't be there for people who consider cycling an extreme sport. @ediz1975

It’s sad to see another bus lane being taken away from Londoners ….. Taking away a bus lane for the cycle lobby should raise serious questions about priorities. With London buses getting slower by the day due to interference of the cycle lobby … why are more bus lanes being taken away again …. tfl-newsroom.prgloo.com/news…

Yes, it’s clear. LTNs don’t increase safety on roads outside them. Worse still, they increase traffic on these roads. Lose lose.

Today marked the final day of school before the summer holidays begin. It's disheartening to see that the needs of children who rely on SEND transport are overlooked, forced onto time-inefficient, circuitous routes due to the widespread implementation of LTNs- a policy that you actively endorse.

Trams increase choice. Within 2yrs Croydon Tram carried 16m passengers a yr. 20% transferred from cars. Trams work especially well where the population density is not high enough to justify a tube but where trips can take a long time by bus. But UK needs to cut construction costs

Just arrived in Dieppe on first leg of interrail trip. Dieppe has free electric minivans connecting the station and city centre. @tfl if only London could follow suit.

A council question about walking reveals what a low priority walking is for @LewishamCouncil - no spend attached (unlike cycling where they spend loads). Yesterday’s walk showed how deprioritized walking is. Impossible to navigate the pavement without stepping into the bike lane

If LTNs are about health they should implemented for the busiest roads where asthma rates are highest. Wealthy side street residents would complain about their added traffic but it’s mainly self-generated. Living with the consequence might force behaviour change. @SocEnvJustice
