FYI @willnorman A major disbenefit of LTNs is that many people have to live, work, use buses, wheel, cycle or scoot on busier roads taking traffic from LTN streets. @SocEnvJustice
One of the many benefits of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods is that they make streets safer for cycling. We're working with boroughs to route bike routes through LTNs - with filters & safe crossings of main roads. Great to see the new Cycleway 37 in Hackney 🚲💚

‘Don’t own a car.’ Tell that to LTN residents, sir. That might help reduce car traffic. Unlike LTNs currently.

Even Aldred & Goodman, the pro-LTN researchers who did nearly all the studies, failed to show any convincing links between LTNs and a fall in overall car use. So, no overall cut in noise, pollution or emissions. Our Election Briefing below. Our full set: socialenvironmentaljustice.c…

These ‘parklets’ were indeed meant for the local community. Hackney Council recently changed their purpose making them exclusive to customers. With no real benefit to the locals these spaces now only benefit a limited, non diverse clientele. Gentrification in action.

London poll puts Greens on 28%, Labour 24%, Cons 21%, Lib Dems 13%, Reform 11%. Green support likely to be highest in Inner London, places like Hackney, Lambeth, Islington. Time for the Greens to say if they can give hope to residents hurting due to LTNs. standard.co.uk/news/politics…

If anyone posts anecdotes sir, it’s you. More importantly, those roads where LTNs funnel all motorised traffic to have a higher percentage of social housing and low income families than the roads benefitting. Instead of supporting unfairness, pls open your eyes to injustice.

Funnel all car (through) traffic to zone 3. Bob lives in zone 2 (in an LTN). NIMBYism at its worst. 🤦‍♂️

Residents on roads outside LTNs have been saying this for over 5 yrs now, without much official recognition. The fact LTNs increase congestion (and thus pollution) is finally getting publicised. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gl…

This doesn’t look good from an LTN apologist who has no consideration for his afflicted neighbours on the roads outside the LTNs. ‘Not in my backyard’, eh Bob?
The mythical ‘cycle lobby’, a term used by car apologists who cannot grasp the notion that someone travelling alone in a 2.5-tonne, 6-foot-wide car is the cause of congestion, but use the fewer than 2% of London’s roads with separated cycle infrastructure as an excuse.

Maybe your memory isn’t that great. But this is not about (you) driving. It’s about residents suffering unprecedented traffic and pollution on the roads they live on as a result of LTNs.

Instead, LTNs are causing even more polution and unprecedented congestion on 19th century residential roads outside the LTNs, just so those living in already much better off streets can have even quieter roads. Time to face reality, Alan.

Bob lives in Hackney. Bob lives in an LTN. Bob doesn’t care about his neighbours outside the LTNs. Don’t be like Bob.
Tom lives in London. Tom drives to the supermarket for a ‘big shop’. Don’t be like Tom. Get it delivered or shop local; there's no need to add to the congestion and then have the nerve to complain about ‘traffic’.

And later today (Saturday) still very long cues continuesly from 1pm with no let up now at 4pm. A real risk for Graham Rd residents is that Council might restrict traffic on Navarino & Greenwood Rd, resulting in even more traffic on Graham Rd. 😢

It is. But (residential!) Graham Road seems to be the worst victim of bad traffic management. Most areas around LDN appear quiet as is usual in Januari. Hackney Central is suffering unprecedented volumes of traffic on the sacrificed roads. Even on weekends. See today at 1pm 👇

I lived on this road for over 30 yrs. Busy Rd but liveable. Having congestion in front of my home was extremely rare. Since the LTN wave 5 yrs ago (and parking spaces removed) it’s unliveable, and getting worse. Council said LTNs would reduce driving. They don’t.

Yes, probably. But this highly affluent inner London enclave (De Beauvoir in Hackney) is like this thanks to counterproductive schemes like LTNs that funnel all motor traffic and its pollution to other residential, but worse off roads. Hardly fair, is it?
70% of Hackney’s roads is closed to motor traffic by LTNs. As a result, even during the summer holiday residential Graham Rd (A1207) is congested most of the day, every day. @mayorofhackney & @hackneycouncil ignore its residents. We don’t matter to them 😢 👇23/8/24 at 12pm

Cycling can be great, but this is just another baseless assumption from an extremist ideologue.

And like yesterday, today (Sunday) congestion persisted until well in the evening, totalling at least 7 hours of long cues of highly polluting idling motor vehicle traffic on our residential road. Surely @hackneycouncil, you have a duty of care?

Today, Sunday, the misery on Hackney’s residential Graham Rd continues, with cues starting at around 12 noon, getting even worse as the day progresses. Congestion often stretching the entire road. It’s now 3pm. Check the timestamps.👇
