I haven't heard athletes calling the portal the "wild, wild west", but money previously given to athletes for housing is being siphoned out of their scholarship & called NIL/rev share at schools. Coaches make $ offers then pull them. I could name names, and might if it keeps on.

The NCAA is a joke. It’s the Wild West at the D1 level, but they actually enforce outdated rules at the D3 level.
D3 Augsburg XC/track athlete Mohammed Bati has been ruled ineligible by the NCAA for accepting $6000 from the community to help him stay enrolled in school. He had been working nearly full time hours (overnight at a hospital) to pay his tuition.

I talked with X on the phone when Grambling was his only offer and he had a 17 minute sophomore year HS highlight tape. 😂
His HS coaches said he was going to “fuck it up” and not make it. He worked at Sonic, believed in himself, and was hungry to be great. Good for him.
