@WorldAthletics did publish the qualification system for the 2027 World Championships. The one for @LA28 shouldn’t be very different… It raises some concerns by athletes and coaches. Here some thoughts about it:

Emphasising the importance the Loughborough International meet has to the under 20 set up is the fact that six athletes achieved the tough world u20 standards for the first time yesterday.. the age group also provided seven match event winners (and one U18 winner!)

Abby Steiner 🇺🇸 is suing Puma, alleging that their racing shoes were defective and caused her injuries! Steiner has suffered from chronic, severe foot and ankle injuries, including Haglund’s deformity (enlarged bumps on the back of the heels) and subsequent Achilles issues. She has had multiple surgeries. According to the complaint, Puma along with Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd. were aware that the shoe designs and their carbon plate (CFP) and nitrogen foam (NF) technology could lead to bone stress injuries, increased risk of foot damage, and abnormal strain on runners’ feet. The lawsuit claims the shoes were unsafe for normal, expected use despite this knowledge.

Sharon Morris is an inspirational person and coach. She is such an asset for athletics. It was a joy to interview Sharon at length, as part of a mini-documentary on Birchfield Harriers, at the end of last year. You can watch the full documentary below 👇 athleticsweekly.com/news/pre…
"I spotted Matthew Hudson-Smith as a nine-year-old." Speaking on the latest of our Club of the Month series with @EnglandAthletic, Sharon Morris talks through her time coaching at @Birchfield1877 🗣️ In her decades in the sport, Morris has brought through many youngsters, including Olympic 400m silver medallist Hudson-Smith 🏃 Morris has won regional and national awards for her coaching in the UK 🇬🇧

We’re partnering with @CashApp as our official Payments Partner to bring a faster future to track & field - on the track and at the finish line - introducing a new model for how performance turns into pay. This year, Cash App is enabling immediate prize payments for all eligible athletes the moment results are confirmed. Beyond record-setting payout times, Cash App is offering a $250,000 world-record bonus to any athlete who breaks a world record at Athlos NYC. Faster payouts mean real-time recognition and an athlete-first experience, raising the bar for the sport. Eligibility & terms apply. Instant payments available for eligible, verified Cash App accounts; otherwise paid by wire. All awards subject to anti-doping compliance and record ratification where applicable. World-record bonus applies to seven designated Athlos NYC events; see official terms for details. Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. Great Britain finish second in the medal table at the Euro under 20's with 5 gold, seven silvers and a bronze. As usual women do best with nine of the thirteen medals although the shock was from Rafferty Mirfin (M800m winner) who is young enough to be selected in 2027
