A baby’s neck muscles are weak and unable to support their relatively large head. When shaken, the brain can move back and forth inside the skull, tearing blood vessels and causing serious brain damage.
Babies cry. You can cope. Never, ever shake a baby.

If a baby is crying, it’s ok to pause, put them down somewhere safe, and take a moment to breathe. Babies cry. Parents and carers get overwhelmed.
