Original BLAIR WITCH PROJECT star Heather Donahue/Rei Hance has explained why she's not part of the reboot team. "I was offered an agreement that, for me personally, raised difficult long-term questions about rights, future technological use of identity and voice, the ability to speak freely, and compensation. Ultimately, it just wasn’t something I felt comfortable signing. "I genuinely wish everyone involved well. But preserving my autonomy mattered more to me."

And to clarify, I wish they were financed! I wish these astonishing filmmakers didn’t have to fight so hard for so long to get money for their dream projects. I attach to movies because they’re good. ✌️
Carrie Coon’s post #WhiteLotus bump isn’t what you think, she reveals on THR's Drama Actress roundtable. “As far as what' The White Lotus' does for careers, there were a lot of think pieces written about the show and the women... I still have to fight. I’m going to have to fight for big movies. What am I getting? I’m getting unfinanced indie scripts. That’s what I’m getting.” bit.ly/4fGqmoo

À ton of movies these days *do* have a version of this scene. The problem is it’s rarely a performer fully inhabiting the present while reckoning with their past through engaging prose. It’s a blunt, literal slog of boo-hoo backstory. Structurally perfunctory emotional signaling.
This is probably my favourite scenes from Jurassic Park. If the movie was made today this scene probably wouldn’t have made it in and I think that’s a real shame

Do you think we’ll ever get another Bond movie that dares to do something as awesome as launching a dude through the metal hull of the bottom of a jet so that he ends up perfectly positioned in its backseat before exploding

The way I learned to do my dishes was by pretending I’d walked into the kitchen of a friend who was having a hard time. Never been great at replicating this as a writer, but it is true that the key to daunting work is often flat out disassociation.
This is Zach Cregger’s approach to first drafts as a screenwriter. It’s called “elfing”. He’s right. ✍🏼

"A standalone movie—not part of a series, not part of the Marvel Universe—is a really hard thing to get made now because there are some very good ones made that just don’t get traction and disappear right away." No punny whale quips this time, just enormous gratitude to @BrianDuffield and his filmmaking team for delivering one of the boldest and most original movies I’ve ever been a part of. I mean, it’s honestly a little crazy that we made this, but I couldn’t be more proud or excited!
The odds of being swallowed alive by a whale are not zero. Watch the new teaser for #Whalefall and see the film only in theaters October 16.

The best thing you can do when putting together a low budget film is consider what you *actually* need to pull off your vision. Film is inherently built on needless excess. Write for your budget instead of creating unethical working conditions.

Dumb but I wonder if people my kids’ age can even comprehend “Kubrick used to call me at 2AM” the same way

Having a guest over and sneakily calling my own land line just to watch their face when they hear it ring. Pull the phone out of a desk and it’s inexplicably enormous. Act like it’s normal. Could be fun.
