Thank you @GovBillLee for signing HB1551/SB1479 into law, helping individuals leaving prison renew their driver’s licenses upon release. This commonsense legislation removes a significant barrier to successful reentry and strengthens public safety. We were grateful to work alongside Representative Davis and Senator Gardenhire. #SecondChances

"The serious nature of violent crimes demands a swift and just response. Unfortunately, #victims are all too often denied that response, with only about one-third of violent crimes in Ohio ultimately solved." Sr. Mgr State Government Affairs - @SarahMaeHenry testifies at the #OHIO House Public Safety Committee on HB830. @NiskanenCenter @KevinARing

Prison Fellowship’s @sarahmaehenry and Justice Ambassador Emily Vollmer testified before the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee in support of HB 296. We are grateful to partner with Rep. Melanie Miller on this important legislation, which provides a grace period before fines and fees become due following incarceration.

Great piece by @MarcALevin and Khalil Cumberbatch. #Iowa “The underlying reason is simple: what deters crime is the likelihood of getting caught, not the length of the sentence. Many people who commit offenses aren’t calculating prison terms — they either act on impulse or believe they won’t be apprehended.” bleedingheartland.com/2026/0…

“Sin is like a snowball going down the hill. It just picks up momentum and gets bigger until you finally crash, and that’s what happened.” Lost and alone in his cell, Daniel's desperate plea for a Bible ignited a life-changing commitment to serve God wholeheartedly. Now, the man whose downfall began with a street fight is a passionate advocate fighting for others. pulse.ly/gne5jmc3qa

Strong reentry begins with the basics, and a valid government-issued ID is one of the most important tools a person can have upon release from prison. Encouraged to see the Bureau of Prisons continuing efforts to ensure men and women return home with identification. Removing barriers to reentry strengthens public safety and helps returning citizens build stable, productive lives. @OfficialFBOP bop.gov/news/20260527-expand…

- If the sentencing bill is enacted, Iowa's prison population is expected to rise 49% by FY 2030; and - Accommodating that increase in prisoners (tot = 4,363) will require one-time construction costs of $1.972 BILLION and $115.6 million in recurring operating costs. Wow.

Great news for the Safer Supervision Act!
Huge news for federal supervision reform: Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche (@DAGToddBlanche) just agreed we need to reform federal supervision and committed to working with Senator Coons (@ChrisCoons) and Senator Lee (@SenMikeLee) on the Safer Supervision Act. The Acting AG adds his voice to a growing movement of support for the bill, including 150 groups in our Safer Supervision Coalition like FLEOA, NDAA, Right on Crime, Prison Fellowship, and others across the political spectrum. Americans across the country have already signed the petition calling on Congress to act, and polling from Fabrizio Ward shows 79% of voters across party lines back this bill. It's past time to fix our federal supervision system. We urge Congress to move this bill forward.
