The children joined us for these 2 days of walking and carried the bus and teapot for the entire way up long, winding and steep hills- I know this experience profoundly affected my daughter who translated the experiences of the families for Spanish press - she is now an activist

Last year Danny Tozer’s family brought a teapot to carry as Danny loved tea. We also carried bay leaves for Anthony Dawson who loved to smell them in the garden where he lived. I remember this day as a long and difficult walking day.

LBs bus has come with us for hundreds of kms walking the Camino LB in Spain & Birmingham. Most people recognize the bus as something Connor Sparrowhawk loved but for me, carrying the bus has also come to symbolize sharing & carrying the burden of grief & anger with families

We are very proud to announce the new 3rd edition of Disabled Children: a legal handbook. With thanks to @sarasiobhan (now a contributor) we have on the cover a beautiful painting by her son, Connor Sparrowhawk, called ‘Colours’ (2013). Publishing December 2019.

That @mencap_charity , ‘the voice of learning disability’ at no point became involved or gave their support (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) will always be an incomprehensible disappointment to me. #JusticeforLB #Mazars #JusticeForAllTheDudes #DeathByIndifference

Just listened and it is so good to hear - especially at a time when it’s easy to get dispirited by all the empty political promises bouncing around. #JusticeforLB - a reminder of good people and what’s important in healing the wounds life, bad actions & preventable hurt inflict

The human rights of some young people with #learningdisabilities and #autism are being breached in mental health hospitals in England according to a new report. It's a story #BBCBreakfast has told from the start ⬇️ #BBCSend #SEN #SEND

Looks as if @BBCfileon4 is going to be difficult listening tonight. Brave of @beckymontacute to share her experience publicly. Shows how @INQUEST_ORG & @JusticeforLB have been right to highlight unfairness of current inquest system for families
I spoke to @bbcstories about the failures in my mum's mental health care, and my experience of the inquest process. I would really appreciate if you can take the time to read, as I wouldn't have believed this could happen in the UK until it did to mum - bbc.co.uk/news/stories-49883…

Here is BBC director David Jordan saying "the Complaints Unit deals with the complaints it gets... we haven't had a complaint about Dan Walker's role." We now know that is a lie. So I'll ask again BBC, why did you single out @BBCNaga when there were complaints against both?

Haven't been able to put this down - moving, full of love, funny, and deeply, outrageously shocking. Thank you @sarasiobhan for writing this. If you haven't already, do read it. #JusticeForLB

The ‘abusers’ aren’t just the rogue staff. It’s also the ineffective managers, lazy commissioners, naive CQC inspectors, profit hungry owners, over worked social workers, ill informed police officers....and every sucker who held a meeting, made a plan...and did nothing.

Imho the following are areas that need to be improved: better and unannounced monitoring, more support for family/friends to visit, robust whistleblowing policies, better staff training, better commissioning decisions, better advocates, better and speedier access to justice etc..

Body cams on care staff would be humiliating for both the person being cared for and the carer. Technology is an easy/cheap but it’s not the solution. I’ve done a few cases with CCTV or audio of abuse and the footage is often not definitive.
