Two U.S. Army AH-64 Apache pilots were rescued near the Strait of Hormuz after their helicopter went down near the coast of Oman on Monday evening, according to U.S. Central Command. ABC News' Martha Raddatz reports. Read more: abcnews.visitlink.me/H3I3n4

According to the Washington Post’s @DanLamothe, the U.S. Navy drone that aided in the rescue of two U.S. Apache helicopter crew members was a Saronic Technologies Corsair unmanned surface vessel (USV). First deployed in the U.S. Central Command AOR in March of this year, the USV reportedly picked up the two soldiers and then took them to a secondary location where a waiting helicopter hoisted them up. Such a rescue would be the first time that such a system was used in this role.

Two US aviators went down near the Strait of Hormuz. DoW used an autonomous @Saronic Corsair to find and bring them home - the 1st drone rescue at sea in military history. This is why we build: to keep our troops safe. This was science fiction. American builders made it real 🇺🇸.
