It’s the Equality Act, not the Equalities Act. Call me a pedant, but if you can’t even get the name right, I’m not gonna attach great weight to your views on its 218 provisions and 28 schedules.

Whilst most ppl will remember Roy Hattersley for his political life, he was also an expert (& advocate for) trams. He described double deckers on BBC Timeshift: “they had a galleon capacity: they almost floated along [with] a clanging noise, somehow detached from their movement, so you felt they had certain ethereal qualities as they came past”

These are the parents that will somehow have to regulate the social media ban. It's a "smartwatch", but you can't install any apps on it. Except no such device exists! the kid is probably busy watching the end of their video, or chatting to someone, they're slow to text.
My eldest (13yo) has a smartwatch with a SIM card in it, she can call me but has no social media. She can text but it’s quite slow and frustrating to do on a small screen. It’s just her and one other friend who don’t have smartphones now from her group (around 10 girls)

Now this, this is a man who is a good speaker. Relaxed. Shoulders down. Funny. A good turn of phrase. Well-paced. And he commands the room. Note how few MPs are on their phones. Keep your eye on this fella. Not many backbenchers (and almost none on the front bench) can do this.

2. To the unnamed Labour MP recounting a female constituent who identifies as trans and says she’d rather die than be on a women’s ward… do they think a woman’s request to be on a male ward should be honoured even when it creates horrific risks like this?

Politicians and ministers in particular shouldn’t be able to appear and promote issues like this without an expert present to challenge, clarify, and offer explanations. #SocialMediaBan

shame the children - the rowers of the future - won't be able to see or engage in it. We currently have the facilities to highlight an event like this. But next year, and for the future, that audience will be banned from hearing this news, engaging with it.

Why is any money or campaigns run to "fight the fake news"? the people that read & accept the fake news will not be convinced otherwise! Just accept the silly minority will tell the world London is awful, let the rest of us enjoy it without the rogue ignorants.
London is the greatest city in the world, but we’re facing an unprecedented wave of online lies and disinformation. Today in Singapore, I launched a new campaign to fight the fake news, set the record straight, and remind the world why there’s no better place to visit.

I'm sceptical any of this has been properly thought through. Very 2026, and very depressing.

Couple of other process-y things about the government's proposed social media ban. 1. Where is the white paper for what is after all a major govt intervention? The scantiest of 'fact sheet' has been published which shows the lack of policy thinking as to implementation.
