This month my family received a posthumous Bravery Award for my father. @Oireachtasnews saw a tweet of mine about how he helped to save a drowning man from the Liffey in 1955. I feel so proud of him, he would never have told this story himself.

Tony Ray-Jones. In 1965 he took himself off in a camper van in search of Englishness. And found it. Sadly he died of a sudden and aggressive leukaemia in 1972. He was 30 years old.

Alan Bird, RIP Everyone at Bohemian FC is devastated to learn of the sad passing of Alan Bird, our long-serving matchday programme editor: bohemians.ie/alan-bird-rip/ A long-standing club volunteer, Alan served as programme editor since 2013, including right up to the end of this season as he courageously battled illness, but sadly passed away on Thursday night in the Mater Hospital, surrounded by his family. Alan’s funeral will take place on Thursday at St Canice’s in Finglas, and we encourage as many of his fellow Bohemians to attend as possible, and also encourage members and supporters to sign the online book of condolences to let Alan’s family know that they are in our thoughts at this sad time.
