Arnold Schwarzenegger on the Self-Inflicted High Gas Prices in California “The reason is because the California legislators somehow feel like they don't want to have a refinery in California … So now you have to go and ship all the oil to Texas, do the refining, and then you go and ship it back again. Well, what happens when you ship it? That creates pollution! So it is absolutely contradictory to what they believe in.”

If the transit tax passes in November, a total of $35 million will go just to administering the newly created revenue district over 14 years, due to the incredibly complex allocation formulas.

California is one of the most dynamic places on the planet. But it is a case study in how a rich society can spend more and more while producing less and less of what its ordinary citizens need. My take:

California is one of the most dynamic places on the planet. The paradox of the state today is that its successful economy is attached to a failing model of governance. My latest column: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

Politics in a snapshot
There’s actually a really deep meaning behind this.

Wait, SEIU is in charge of counting ballots that they have a vested interest in?! Most of their endorsed candidates just happen to always win, often with huge last minute dumps?! Wolves guarding the chicken coup, what could possibly go wrong?
This makes sense when you recognize that LA County election assistants belong to SEIU Local 721. The union's contract restricts the County's ability to use staffing firms to accommodate high demand periods, like elections.

Super troubling. It’s low turnout elections like this that allow bad candidates to ballot harvest their way into office. Do y’all not remember CD11 5 years ago? Vote @TraciParkforLA 🙏

“The couple has 2 children who attend an elite private school, in which her husband has been on the board since ‘24.” Living in a $2.5M mansion while sending her kids to private school. Faizah is a socialist in the streets, but a capitalist in the sheets. nypost.com/2026/06/01/us-new…

The middle class is the most expensive place to live, and no one talks about it. Lower income households get assistance. The wealthy use tax strategies and loopholes. But the middle class pays full taxes, full tuition, full healthcare, full everything. So you work 50 hours a week just to stay in the same place and fund everyone’s life except yours.

Just got back from several hours touring L.A.'s Skid Row. It's a 50-block open-air drug market/sex trafficking market/illegal dog breeding market filled with thousands of very sick people and countless criminals and activists (yes, activists) taking advantage of them. Elected officials let it go on and on and on.

Hugo is bragging about a $7 million grant he secured- not to repair our streets, not to grow good jobs, not to keep Hollywood home - but to funnel more money into the same homelessness system that just failed a federal audit. An outside auditor, appointed by Judge Carter in the LA Alliance case, reviewed $2.4 billion in City homelessness spending and found the City could not properly track how those dollars were used or whether the services were even delivered. That’s the system Hugo keeps funding, while our neighborhoods fall further behind. I have a real plan to bring resources into CD13 that actually fix our district: safer streets, cleaner public spaces, and housing that builds up our neighborhoods and supports our small businesses. Vote June 2nd

I was at a campaign event 4 years ago where @adamconover was stumping for Bass. The who’s who of DSA hanging in VIP tents with private security. Organizers were handing out pro communism literature that bashes Dems including Clinton & Obama. Signature gathers. @spencerpratt

If that addict on your street were your own son, what would you do? That is the defining question that guides my 5 step plan to fix the homelessness problem in LA. We *must* end this evil racket of corrupt politicians and NGOs who profit off the misery of these poor souls. They launder money and feed them more drugs, so they can keep their customers locked in this hell on our streets. We have a moral obligation from God to help them and make our city safe and clean for everyone. Karen Bass and Nithya Raman have forsaken this city. Time for real leadership. Time for real compassion.

I am tired of hearing "you should be nice to politicians and then they might help" or "they are learning so give them grace". If you can see this starved dog and honestly say to yourself "well, at least people in power are learning" then, congrats, you are the problem.
