Trust @PrivateEyeNews to tell it like it is. Wood burning is disproportionately polluting. It may be aesthetic but it’s not ethical if you have alternative heating. What if we all decided to give in to this fantasy?!?

We are at a strange point in the climate crisis. On one hand, growing evidence that the AMOC could collapse more swiftly than thought, with catastrophic consequences for Europe. On the other, politicians trying to justify more North Sea drilling. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

New study adds evidence that the "Cold Blob" in the North Atlantic is proof of AMOC slow-down. And it can only be explained by changes in ocean heat transport (impacted by us). Continued slowdown, even shut-down cannot be excluded. An unacceptable risk. cnn.com/2026/06/12/climate/c…

I had to report one post in my mentions to the police this week. The protectors of women and girls, apparently.

The vast majority of people in NI, from every race, creed & political affiliation, reject racism as it showed itself on Monday night. Pogrom an accurate word. I don’t understand why political unionism can’t support unionists who oppose it by attending the rally 🤷🏼‍♀️

Israel’s genocide has been funded by many people who bought Israeli bonds underwritten by major global banks. Barclays and BNP have stopped that: good. Now waiting for @GoldmanSachs, @BankofAmerica, @Citi, @DeutscheBank and @jpmorgan to do the same. banktrack.org/news/seven_und…

This is exactly why rapid decarbonisation matters. Human-caused warming is now estimated at 1.37°C and increasing at around 0.27°C per decade. The longer we delay, the more climate impacts, air pollution costs, and adaptation costs accumulate. The cheapest tonne of CO₂ is the one we never emit.
Our 2026 Indicators of Global Climate Change paper is out! We find that the human-induced warming was 1.37C in 2025, and the current rate of warming is 0.27C per decade, on track to firmly pass 1.5C in about four years.

You never know what a drone patrol in the Mara might reveal. Some days, Mara Elephant Project rangers locate an injured elephant in need of assistance. Other days, they prevent a herd from heading toward danger. And sometimes, they witness something extraordinary. During a routine monitoring patrol, as the drone climbed higher, rangers began counting elephants. And counting. And counting. What appeared on the ground to be a large herd turned out to be a mega herd of nearly 100 individual elephants. A breathtaking sight, a promising sign for the population, and a moment our team won't soon forget.

Some rather strange people don’t want this to stop and would happily watch the world’s temperature continue to go up and up if it means they can continue to burn stuff 🤷‍♂️
The world has warmed by around 1.4C since 1850. It took 148 years for the first half of that warming to occur, and just 27 years for the second half!

A family of barn owls eats around 1,000 rodents a year, some studies say up to 3,000. When we put out rodent poison, the owls eat the poisoned mice, and they die too. Without the predators, the mice come back worse. Skip the rat poison, put up an owl box.

Phytoplankton decline hints trouble for north Atlantic food webs 👇 Scientists at Plymouth Marine Laboratory have identified a significant long-term decline in ocean productivity across large parts of the north-east Atlantic, raising concerns about the future of marine food webs, fisheries, and the ocean’s capacity to absorb carbon dioxide. Usings more than two decades of satellite data – spanning 1997 to 2018 – the study has tracked changes in microalgae net primary production – the process by which microscopic marine plants convert sunlight and CO₂ into organic matter at the base of the marine food web. The study leads, Dr Gavin Tilstone and Dr Peter Land, found that after a brief period of increasing productivity in the late 1990s and early 2000s, primary production declined steadily across much of the region. The drop was most pronounced in north-west European coastal waters, including the Irish Sea, North Sea, western... oceanographicmagazine.com/ne…
