TnpB is much smaller than the well-known CRISPR-Cas "gene scissors". The tool for targeted modification of the genome has now been improved to such an extent that it could one day be used to treat a genetic defect that leads to a lifelong high cholesterol level. news.uzh.ch/en/articles/medi… @schwanklab @marquark @UZH_IPT

Impossible to do the field justice on a few pages but we (@jgooten @omarabudayyeh @jsw @JuliaJoung @LukeKoblan) tried our best to give an overview of current CRISPR technologies in @NatRevMCB rdcu.be/dxDD9

Today we @schwanklab report in @nchembio a PACE-evolved, PAM-relaxed, compact Cas9 enzyme. evoCjCas9 supports base- and prime editing, and, owing to its small size, can be delivered on single AAV vector systems. nature.com/articles/s41589-0… @UZH_Science @ETH_en (1/6)

New preprint of @schwanklab on bioRxiv. Congrats @PatrikSimmler and collaborators for this nice story!
I am happy to share our preprint about the #splicing factor SF3B1 that contributes to tumor malignancy by facilitating the adaption to hypoxia in solid cancers. SF3B1 interacts with #HIF1α and acts as a transcriptional co-activator. -> Thread (1/4) biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

New preprint from the @schwanklab! We present a novel base editor variant (HNHx-ABE) with a shifted editing window and reduced size. Congratulations to @lukas_villiger and everyone involved in this elegant study!💪 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

My lab is hosting a happy hour together with Zenobi-Wong and Schwank labs. The theme is airports. What you see here is a homebrew, working metal detector with alarm that attendees pass through upon exiting the elevator. Welcome to @ETH_en, where even the biologists are techies.
