When we speak to god, whether it be by prayer, letter, or subconscious, how do we know god is listening? We look for a sign like a lightning bolt or a bush bursting into flames. For
@taylormomsen from
@TPROfficial, these signs have seemed to take the form of wildlife encounters. While recently touring in Mexico with
@acdc in support of The Pretty Reckless’ upcoming album “Dear God,” Taylor was bitten by a venomous spider but was treated quickly and able to return to stage. This comes after an incident in 2024 when she was also bitten by a bat while performing. Are these signs from god or simply the beginning of Taylor’s superhero origin story? We do not know.
In support of the new album, I’ve worked with
@fearlessrecords to develop an experience that allows fans to write their own confessions or questions to god, utilizing the “Dear God” prompt. During the submission process, we also encourage fans to sign up to the band’s email and SMS list on
@laylodotcom. These submissions are then visualized using
@threejs in real-time as letters floating up into the heavens. (Inspired by the Hogwarts letters moment in Philosopher's Stone). At any point, you can grab a letter out of midair and read it before releasing it back on its journey. Those users who choose to submit their own letter are provided a story formatted video of their submission that they can share on socials. In addition, all submissions are stored in a database, and the client can choose to use any in OOH advertising.

I really like this setup for a submission campaign. Allow users to interpret a prompt and attempt to capture their data at the same time. Once they submit, visualize their contribution live for anyone else currently on the site to encourage participation. Then, provide them a piece of UGC and encourage them to share it in order to drive more users to the experience. Finally, store all of their contributions in a database and use them to build a world around the release online and IRL.
Many thanks to
@fearlessrecords for the opportunity to build together. Dear God is out June 26.
