Up to 14 screaming #Swifts. In De Montfort Road, #Lewes, last night, two more boxes are now occupied by Swifts. One is a new one where they have never been seen before and the other has had Swifts for over 20 years.
Here are some of the Swifts flying over St. Anne's Church.
The next guided #tree walk is around the @RailwayLand nature reserve on Tuesday 16th June, 11.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m. No need to book - just meet us outside the Linklater Pavilion, #Lewes, at 11.00 a.m.
A lovely afternoon for our first guided walk around Southover Grange gardens as part of our #Lewes#Tree Festival, with the kind permission of @LewesDC.
Thank you very much to the Rotary Club of Lewes for their grant funding to pay for our Tree Festival leaflets and posters.
We had 92 lovely visitors to the launch of our #Lewes#Tree Festival at Lewes Climate Hub today!
Lots of interesting talks about which trees to plant in Lewes gardens!
Thank you to Rustic Tim for the wonderful woodcraft flower-making!
Wonderful screaming parties of #Swifts along De Montfort Road tonight and we saw an entry to a nest box at the rear of Western Road. Three entries and two exits at St. Anne's Church and up to 11 Swifts swooping around our area of #Lewes.
Looking out on the world is also possible with Peak boxes with the opening underneath - and you get a good view of the #Swifts from the street! These two were at our house in #Lewes last year. @LewesSwifts
Wonderful views of #Swifts over the Cockshut wetlands, #Lewes by Andrew Lloyd - thank you! A fantastic regeneration project from @LewesDC and Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust!
A quiet day and evening with very few #Swifts about between the showers of rain. We saw one entry at St. Anne's Church, #Lewes, and two further up Western Road. Three very loud screamers zooming about after 9.30!
Thank you @ClarkWriting for this wonderful footage of Sand Martins at Bamburgh, Northumberland. Wouldn't it be great to see something like this on the Cockshut wetlands, #Lewes? 🤞🤞
Five #Swift nests at The Maltings and 7 in Station Street - bringing our 2026 total to 65 in #Lewes -only five fewer than this time last year.
Fantastic news from St. John's Terrace - one of the artificial House Martin cups that we installed there on 6th May is now occupied!
Ignoring the rain to weed and mulch the 14 #trees we planted in Malling Close and The Martlets in 2024. We are hoping to plant 10 more nearby in Hereward Way in November this year.
If you would like to find out more about what we do around #Lewes, pop in to see us on Saturday!
Join us at Lewes Climate Hub on Saturday 13th June, 11-3, to celebrate the #trees of #Lewes, join our Special Trees Project, browse ideas for trees in your garden, and make a woodcraft flower!
We've just had one of the best mornings ever - watching #Swifts and House Martins swooping over Cockshut wetlands, #Lewes! Strong winds, so they were flying lower and slower than usual and we could get a really close look at them. A very special experience!!
Very strong winds tonight!
We saw two #Swifts flying out of their nests - one in De Montfort Road and one at St. Anne's Church - but very few flying about.
In King Henry's Road, #Lewes, the nest cam has mostly shown two Swifts in the nest over the past two days.
