Clemency can act as a final check against extreme sentences, but it is also a tool that can bring our system of justice closer to mercy. Timothy Casarez is serving 39 years for charges enhanced by 924(c) stacking; it was his first and only offense, committed in his early twenties.
Clemency would allow Timothy to receive a second chance and come home to his family sooner.
