I wrote for @LiberatedTexts about the 2003 autobiography of Chin Peng, former head of the Communist Party of Malaya, who led anti-colonial resistance against this violent counter-insurgency war waged by the British from 1948–1960: liberatedtexts.com/reviews/u…
UK officials destroyed files on one of the most brutal post-war conflicts they fought - the forgotten war for rubber in 1950s Malaya. It was to cover up their crimes - mass bombings, decapitations, lying, forced villageisation👇 declassifieduk.org/britains-…

Sabri Jiryis’s magisterial book, "The Foundations of Zionism," illustrates how the stories that Zionists tell of themselves, to themselves, are often the most damning indictments of Zionism, writes Nicholas Glastonbury thekeymagazine.com/p/review-…

📚Book review: First published in Arabic across two volumes in 1977 and 1986, and now translated and edited by his daughter Fida, The Foundations of Zionism is a major work of Palestinian historical scholarship by Sabri Jiryis that feels uncannily timely in 2026 ⤵️

Ghassan Kanafani was born 90 years ago today. In 2023, I wrote an essay about his book “On Zionist Literature”—translated and published by @EbbBooks—which I’m resharing for those who are new to his work. Open access from @PalStudies: palestine-studies.org/en/nod…

If you haven't yet, please get a copy of Wasim's powerful and vital testimony.
As a writer, I believe the greatest moment of joy is to hold your book in your hands, to turn its pages, to breathe in the scent of paper and ink, and to see it complete before you bearing witness to what you have poured of your soul into it so that, at last, you can touch the value of what you’ve made. But as a Gazan, I am denied this moment; I cannot hold my book, nor can I even see it… As if my book was born only to remain far from my hands, and close to my heart alone. The picture was sent to me by a friend.

Solidarity with one of our authors, Fadiah. You can read her brilliant and relevant review here: liberatedtexts.com/reviews/u…
I’ve been banned from entering Singapore & was just deported to Malaysia. I asked immigration to provide the grounds for the ban/deportation, but they said they could not disclose them. It’s stunning bcs I stayed there for 5 years & was conferred a doctoral degree on 31 January.

Amazing article by Patrick Higgins on Basil al-Kubaisi, the academic & revolutionary Iraqi who joined the Palestinian Revolution. Very enlightening read!!
Remarkable article by Patrick Higgins on the life & work of historian & revolutionary Basil Al-Kubaisi - 'rare among historians in that he really did combine thought with action, capable of brandishing either the pen or the rifle as the occasion demanded'. liberatedtexts.com/reviews/c…
