Pretty sweet improvement coming soon to LND soon. Right now every payment has a footprint of around 1k bytes associated with LND's channel database, in order to retain revocation details. With optimization, this can potentially get down to around 50 bytes: github.com/lightningnetwork/…

No, that is specific to lnd. The acinq node, the largest in the network and operating since 2018, has a database < 500 MB (running eclair).

Fellow LND node operators:
Do not use unconfirmed funds to open new channels for now.
Due to a bug in LNDs coin selection process you might end up funding that channel with already spend coins, borking your balances.

Yeah fiat has lots of users and all but it can never give you the feeling you get when your 33 BTC routing node fails and refuses to start and you can’t figure out how to get it started again. For a lower stakes version try an alarm clock that costs you coin if you don’t ack it.
