Last load of oat straw being collected this morning. Sad to think that the straw is worth considerably more than the Milling oats from the crop.

Fascinating interview with Chris Chapman on @BBCFarmingToday this morning. But to really understand his talent and craft you need to see his photos. Here’s the one of the pig and two brothers he talked of this morning

Out walking the farm, we have exactly 12 years left on our County Council tenancy. Hugely grateful for the system that has got us going, equally nervous about the future. County farms used to be a stepping stone, a first rung on a progressive ladder, but.... 1/5

Maybe I could remind @ChrisGPackham .... 'A well-fed person has many problems, a hungry person has but one.' How many problems do you have Chris? 🤔
Food prices likely to rise due to Iran war, farmers' union says . . . of course it does , as it’s nitrogen pumping , pesticide dumping paymasters profit from fossil fuel dependency to drive the industrial agriculture which is killing our home . . . bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy41…

Up market view on milling oats on @BBCFarmingToday bears no reality to current market. A local grain marketing group returned a miserly £115.72/t for its committed autumn pool. The oat straw is worth more, better bed the cattle on the grain and sell the straw

RT has become the most meaningless activity on my farm. Add in your other costs to fuel this scam in paying consumer protection money while endlessly duplicating data.

🚨🚜 BREAKING: MEPs pivotal vote validates EU farming community’s rightful concerns and mobilisation The result of the vote in the @Europarl_EN on the referral of the Mercosur Agreement to the ECJ clearly shows how divisive this agreement is. It also shows that the arguments put forward by the farming community, which just want fairness, have made sense to a lot of MEPs, across national and political lines. 🇪🇺 farmers and agri-cooperatives are the first to pay for geopolitical upheavals and unrest. Fair and balanced trade, coherent with internal policies needs to be a certainty, even in uncertain times. Trade policy cannot continue to reward lower standards while European farmers are asked to do more with less. The current global uncertainty is an additional reason for the EU to invest in and protect a sector that lies at the very foundation of the European project, that boosts the EU economy by contributing to a positive agri-food trade balance and sustains rural communities while providing citizens with safe, high-quality and nutritious food. 🔗Download press release: copa-cogeca.eu/press-release…
