On Tuesday night, the Palmetto State lost a baseball lifer when Bart Owens' lengthy battle with cancer ended. A former Blythewood HS, Upstate Mavericks & Diamond Devils coach, Owens spent the last decade with BSN working closely alongside prep coaches statewide. South Carolina HS Baseball & the city of Georgetown lost a legend on Thursday afternoon as longtime Bulldogs skipper Mike Johnson passed away at 78. Pictured left with the late John McKissick at the IP Classic 10 years ago, Coach Johnson was a true gentleman & incredibly revered by his peers. He also won 733 prep games over 43 seasons at the helm. DP extends our prayers plus deepest sympathies to the Johnson family & the thousands of people he impacted during his life. Well done, Coach, you will be missed.
