Failed Plantations & Fake Promises: A CAG report found that barely 33% of plantations in #Uttarakhand survived, exposing the myth that compensatory afforestation can replace mature forests lost to development projects. At a time when Uttarakhand has already witnessed extensive deforestation & loss of its green cover, the proposed felling of 700 more trees for the Dehradun–Kimadi–Mussoorie road expansion demands public scrutiny. Before another 700 trees are sacrificed, citizens have every right to know that if two-thirds of replacement plantations fail, who will replace the forests & green cover we are losing forever?

I am grateful to the Times of India for covering my letter sent to PM Shri Narendra Modi re rampant mining activities around the Asan Conservation Reserve, the first & only Ramsar site in our state of #Uttarakhand. It is noteworthy to highlight that the illegal mining is posing serious threats not only to Asan Reserve but to the wider Yamuna ecosystem as well. This development is an outcome of my recent 35-page letter to the PM seeking urgent intervention to address environmental concerns & ensure long-term protection of this ecologically significant landscape. Let us join hands to preserve our pristine but threatened natural resources. Thank you! @narendramodi @PMOIndia Thank you @shivaniazadTOI for the story!

Want to know the logic with Zeeshan Ansari selection. Quota? If not Sai K, one of Suthar or Dubey should have been part of the squad, giving them the exposure to the conditions ahead of the Test series. To include a player with zero FC games in last 6 years is hard to understand.

It is very sad that, only few are asking questions for deserving players. The pensioners (ex-cricketers) except very few, rest are totally silent on this issue. This shows their love towards the game. Pathetic. @ShashiTharoor @sardesairajdeep @GautamGambhir @imAagarkar 1/2
Shocked by the exclusion of Mumbai batter & Test discard Sarfaraz Khan from the India A squad for Sri Lanka. Is there a better batsman outside the Test team than him? No one’s first-class record comes close. How can the selectors justify this? @sarfankhan97 @imAagarkar @GautamGambhir @BCCI

Please don't stop at that Mr. Deora @milinddeora, the state govt should not allow redevelopment of old building into high rises in narrow roads which I guess is happening Mumbai and your party is part of the govt.
The images from today’s high-rise fire are a reminder that in skyscrapers, the first line of defence is the building itself until firefighters arrive. Functioning extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, alarms & trained occupants can contain a fire in its early stages. Municipalities must strictly enforce compliance & housing societies must regularly inspect & test these systems.

We hope our Fire Brigade is well prepared in Navi Mumbai since so many high rises are coming up. @NMMConline @NMMCCommr

When an Olympian and one of India’s most celebrated women athletes like @Phogat_Vinesh has to approach the courts just to secure a fair opportunity in selection trials, it raises serious questions about the system our sportspersons are forced to navigate. Athletes should be fighting for medals, not against politics, uncertainty, and bureaucratic hurdles for basic sporting rights. If this can happen to someone of Vinesh Phogat’s stature, one can only imagine the struggles faced by ordinary athletes without recognition or influence. What makes her journey even more inspiring is that even after entering public life as an MLA, she continues to compete at the highest level instead of stepping away from sport. Her resilience, discipline, and commitment send a powerful message to young India - that public responsibility and personal ambition can go hand in hand, and that one should never stop chasing excellence. India’s athletes deserve fairness, dignity, transparency, and a system where merit comes before politics. Vinesh Phogat’s struggle is not just her personal battle - it is a reminder of the challenges faced by countless sportspersons across the country.

Masterclass on how we 'value' #tree #forests #wildlife #tigers. The #Khajuraho #Panna #railway project chopped 54578 trees in 2022-23. Then, the route is redesigned Another 50k trees will be cut. This, even as Panna #TigerReserve is doomed (parts submerged by the #riverlnk This, as tempratures soar to 48°C, with 97/100 of world’s hottest cities in #India

Few commentators/ex-cricketers talk about players doing well in domestic cricket and expect that player to be seen in India colours after few years of consistent performance. Now that we have seen what happened to Aquib, will they continue to do so? @ashwinravi99 @doddaganesha
