Once open, there’s going to be one amazing view from the train across Brummigan. And the brilliant engineering achievements will be consigned to history.

This week we’d like to share these pictures of the Curzon 2 viaduct successfully being launched over the Birmingham Cross City line. 📸 The viaduct was pushed over twin railway tracks – a distance of 93 metres over a weekend rail closure. Following the final 37-metre push the structure is now docked and securely locked into position on all four piers. Watch more on the Curzon 2 push here: youtu.be/4Luukv1zZ5g #HS2InPictures

Safety has been the one success of privatisation. Check the stats before spouting absolute rubbish.
Today legislation bringing our railways back into public ownership passes in Commons. Privatisation has been a disaster - fares have soared, tax payers have subsidised the profits of European companies running our trains, jobs have been cut & outsourced, safety cut & lives lost.

This is an amazing machine and was used on the @eastwestrail project I had the privilege of working in for 5 years. Check I out it’s operation if you ever get the chance to see it. @balfourbeatty
Our project to renew 4km of track on the Far North Line is now well underway. We use this fascinating piece of kit, @balfourbeatty's ‘New Track Construction’ machine to do it – laying sleepers, installing rail and securing it all at once! @transcotland @ScotRail

Beummigan was a run down former industrial place when I was in Stanier House and then The Mailbox. @HS2ltd has hastened the massive regeneration project there. It’s a catalyst for the city.
HS2 is driving regeneration in Digbeth — bringing new connectivity to #Birmingham city centre that is unlocking investment, jobs and development across one of the city's most exciting growth areas. 🚄 Property developer Stoford has completed stage one of the Typhoo Wharf development, with the transformed 1930s Tea Factory set to become the BBC's new Midlands home from 2027. 📺

Your opinion to me doesn’t reflect reality the rules of the plan and safety validation are legally binding parts of timetabling. It is not wasted money.
Replying to @diana_blamires
The timetables were designed a long time ago. Incidentally, an absolute fortune is wasted on timetable design. 90% are rejected by network Rail. Each timetable takes over six months to design. Hundreds of millions of public money are wasted in the process

Our fleet of Articulated Dump Trucks (ADTs) are now crossing the Small Dean Viaduct👇🎥. They are moving materials between compounds, replacing the conveyor belt system that previously spanned the A413 and Chilterns Railway line below. The crossing is managed by a traffic light system, with one ADT passing at a time and physical barriers in place to protect the road and railway underneath from rubble and dust. Decommissioning the conveyor belt and returning to traditional haulage methods is helping the team work efficiently. #HighSpeedTwo #Infrastructure #Construction

This was the same with the Bicester to Bletchley east west rail project. Over the five years I watched graduate newbies become chartered engineers who then moved onto other infrastructure projects.
Replying to @Marshrail
Absolutely. To me, this is remarkable engineering, and the experience gained from work like this will benefit the UK rail sector for many years to come.

Reckon that took some planning to carry out without incident!
Two 24m steel footbridge decks were successfully and safely delivered to our site near Aylesbury, marking a key progress milestone for the project. Transported during 15-minute rolling road closures to minimise disruption, the complex operation was moved meticulously through #Aylesbury town centre. This is a testament to the hard work and collaboration of a skilled team which included our traffic management team, who helped keep everything running smoothly on the ground.

There's been some activity at Interchange since my last visit and one of the A45 carriageway decks has been assembled, by this giant thing! I'm guessing 1200 tonne capacity? #HS2

The former MP for the Isle of Wight forgets his Government’s rail policy. We are now desperately trying to remedy it. They also wanted to close @IslandLineUK don’t forget. Just saying.
Replying to @UKLabour
So less funding, more cancellations (as there is no penalty), and another service in slow decline. Thanks. One way to get drivers back on the roads.

Amazing engineering which will leave a new cohort of engineers for the Uk.
This summer, our teams are preparing to deliver the biggest programme of work over the motorway network. The construction schedule, which starts in June, will see three huge HS2 structures built over busy sections of the M42 and #M6 in the #WestMidlands. In one operation, a twin box will be built above both carriageways of the #M42 near #Birmingham Business Park – allowing the railway to be constructed over the top. Additionally, two single-track viaducts will be extended over the M42/M6 Toll near Water Orton, and a twin-track viaduct will be installed over the M6 near Chelmsley Wood. And they introduced business bank charges after promising not to do so. Free banking for ever, for life they put into print. @santanderukhelp @bancosantander @santanderuk
Replying to @santanderukhelp
@santanderukhelp you’ve blocked my business bank account in your pursuit to piss off your business customers for a made up reason. I find myself with a blocked bank account over the end of the month when, if you understood business, you’d know is when pay runs are made.

Delay attribution is simply awful and extremely inaccurate. It’s a battle open access operators are fighting as it’s real money to them. Numerous examples of incorrect attribution and it’s getting worse.
At this point it is worth noting that DfT has tightly controlled TOC spending for several years. Even this might not be whole story, how worthwhile fitting improved WSP or sanders also depends on residual life of the stock in question.
