Warren Buffett invested $488 million in PetroChina after only reading their annual report . No site visits and no calls to management. A shareholder then asks him if just reading an annual report is enough to make an investment Listen to his answer

"I am a professor!" In another clip she explains she "impulsively hit [the police officer] on the head." Deep (or not so deep) down, academics who complain about "privilege" believe that they belong to a special caste, which entitles them to hit their inferiors on the head.

Emory's Caroline Fohlin is knocked down by the police while shouting: “I’m a professor!!” Hear the disbelief in her voice. She never expected to be treated like this by her own university for protesting Israel's slaughter. But remember, democracy is on the ballot in Nov...

This was huge fun. Among other things, we covered the nature of philosophy, consciousness, statistical mechanics, the scientific revolution, causation, animal welfare, many worlds, significance testing, large language models, and what happened to "scientific method"?
What role should philosophy play in science? I had the privilege to talk to @davidpapineau who's thought carefully about this and many other topics — causation, consciousness, the replication crisis more. 🎧⤵️ YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=Z8627os4… Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/0TD…

$BABA for the second month in a row, institutional ownership has increased their buying of $BABA by 100% compared to the last 2 years average. Earnings report is due on Weds the 7th of Feb. Smart money buys undervalued equities.
$BABA Institutional ownership jumped 100% in the month of December '23. As the price fell to its 52 Week Low, Institutions bailed in. We are now ahead of the smart money. We said they would return, value hunters will always return to undervalued stocks.

Coastal Liberal elites and their grab bag of stupid ideas may end up having an enormously negative, long term impact on minorities, racism and poverty if they aren’t voted out of power soon.
A Bay Area elementary school struggling to boost low test scores is paying $250,000 for an organization called Woke Kindergarten to train teachers to disrupt racism and oppression. Its scores fell even further. trib.al/iYqBuTx

$AMD was obvious to buy at $93 and many waited $META was obvious to buy at $87 and everyone waited $AMZN was a clear buy at $88 and people waited $AAPL at $129 was the easiest money and people waited. $SQ at $39 was extremely undervalued and many waited $COST at its wedge breakout at $505 was easy safe money but people waited. $JBLU at $3.30 with a market cap of $1 Billion was a steal and nobody wanted to buy it. $ABNB at $104 holding at the 0.618 Wave 2 was a clear buy and now at $147 The list goes on and on and this is from the last 14 months alone. Do not listen to the negative stories you read online. When the fundamentals and technicals aligns, it’s a buy, regardless of the noise. If you keep waiting, you’ll always chase. Negative news is far more common than positive news, nobody is going to do this for you and filter out the noise. We will keep buying when everyone is scared to execute.

I led Members of Congress in sending a letter to @SecBlinken urging action on threats to democracy in El Salvador. The State Dept must review its relationship with El Salvador and defend democratic values. The Salvadoran people deserve free and fair elections without fear of repression. omar.house.gov/media/press-r…
Community note

I simply took it for granted that El Salvador would be a dystopia forever. I am grateful to be proven wrong. It really shows what can be accomplished with just one strong leader who understands that you don't appease crime - you stomp it out, and then the problem is gone.

Good Morning from #Germany, which has a massive growth problem & is facing distribution conflicts. In Q4, Germany's econ shrank by 0.3% after stagnation in Q2 and Q3 & a slight increase of 0.1% in Q1. This is remarkable insofar as population increased by 0.4% in 2023: in per capita terms, growth looks even weaker.
