The new schedule simplifies service patterns and increases service frequency at multiple stations in alignment with the goals of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority Act to expand public transit access and improve reliability. Metra will operate a Sunday/Holiday Schedule for Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026. No alcohol will be allowed on any Metra train.

Metra will be expanding both weekday and weekend schedules on its Rock Island Line beginning Monday, June 1. The new schedules will significantly expand weekend service, address gaps in weekday service to meet customer requests, and change stopping patterns on some off-peak trains to better reflect ridership patterns and travel times.
