This is accurate, but then Trump & Netanyahu have used each other all along. Netanyahu helped Trump win in 2024 to expand his war aims. Trump was foolish enough to think those aims would bring down the mullahs. Now he's desperate for a deal.

On a recent episode of @thedispatch podcast, @JonahDispatch made an insightful point about Trump's handling of the Iran war negotiations:
"The thing I find baffling, is his position vis-à-vis Israel, is that Israel needs to stop attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon, because that makes Iran mad, and Iran wants it to stop. And so in effect, he's using Iran's willingness to participate in a deal, as leverage to make Israel stop, rather than using Israel as leverage against Iran. Let Israel be the bad cop, let Israel be the rogue agent here and say: I'll try to stop them from destroying all of Hezbollah, but you've got to give me something. Instead, he's going to Israel saying: you've got to stop because I need to give Iran something."

BREAKING: Iran says the US has agreed to permanently hand over the Strait of Hormuz to Iran under their full sovereign authority, with Iran collecting tolls called "service fees" from all commercial ships after a 60-day waiver period. The opening is planned for Friday, after the signing, per Fars.
With pre-war Hormuz traffic at 30,000 vessels and 7.6 billion barrels of oil per year, this could generate $10 billion in annual revenue for Iran, and comes on top of the $300 billion in reconstruction funds directly sent to Iran.
This also directly contradicts Trump's claim of a "toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz" under no fees.

For years, Haim, a Jewish band with family from Israel, refrained from commenting on Israel or antisemitism. Fair enough. I’m of the firm belief that artists don’t need to engage in identity politics/global affairs for clout. But the explosion of antisemitism recently directed at Alana Haim proves that not commenting is not enough and will not save you. You don’t need a commercial for luxury apartments in Herzliya to be a target.
