I’m not sure why I apparently need to write a dissertation in every tweet to make the point that billionaires have undue, problematic influence on global politics and have exercised said influence to kill hundreds of thousands of poor people. The wealth gap is the largest it’s been in recorded Canadian history — a clear symptom of an inequity problem. Publicly funded sectors like healthcare and education are underfunded while billionaires don’t pay their fair share. You see it in hospital wait times. Classroom sizes. The ultra rich have several homes and financialize the market while people can’t pay their rent. The proof is all around us, every day. It’s been documented ad nauseam. Trickle down economics have been debunked. Forgive me for distilling that reality into the “loser” insult. Anyone hoarding billions in wealth in a society that has struggling public services is the epitome of exactly that — a loser — and in the context of everything I just laid out, I think distilling it to that diagnosis in a tweet is actually fine!

The Shopify CEO is an all time loser, up there with Elon. Just a mortifying wealth glutton. You can’t “make” this much money. You can only steal the fruits of others’ labour. The fact that billionaires exist — while Canadians can’t afford groceries — is a societal failure
