Moonbase construction ๐Ÿšง ๐Ÿ™„ Starship launches with #Prufrock to access lava tubes, Optimus swarm scouts and surveys future landing sites, LunarNet and orbiter supervise and report to construct control stations on earth. Earth sends rovers, drones, and inflatables for storage.

Human Accessible Habitation Node (H.A.H.N) Creator of the Human Accessible Habitation Node (H.A.H.N), a starship variant that sectionalizes the second stage of a starship vehicle into at least four separate modules each consisting of varying degrees of habitability, life support, research, living quarters, science, and operational functions. The nose cone houses several RVAC rocket engines optimized for space transport and station keeping. Each node connects autonomously to each other in either a vertical or horizontal configuration or a combination of both in order to form multiple layers or stories to form a complete orbiting structure above the earth and or the Moon or other celestial bodies. A completed station or any sub level of modules can break away and form another station. Once separated, each individual node is equipped with its own engines and thrusters to autonomously leave orbit and land on the surface of the moon or other body. Each initial iteration is also equipped with its own landing pad which is released just before landing and remains on the surface to be used by other vehicles for landing. Future iterations of the nodes would then ferry supplies to and from the surface while construction and colonization of the moon proceeds for permanent human occupancy. Once sufficiently supplied, in situ resource utilization, mining, and manufacturing can commence. Further use of local resources can then be used to expand lunar station and habitable structures. With the Lunar Station becoming self-sufficient, future support and supplies from earth can be reduced with limited resupplies and necessities for sustainability.

SpaceX unveiling staggering long-term ambitions this week, we then had Artemis III surprises, and the record IPO baiting every side of social media. What do you think about the massive numbers needed for SpaceX's plans? ๐Ÿ”ฅ Lots to catch up on here! ๐Ÿ˜ youtu.be/12koKOx6MRQ

"Tom Mueller is driving his candy green Porsche Taycan Turbo S the way he builds rocket engines: with a terrifying amount of instantaneous thrust..." Before titles like "the godfather of rocketry" were tossed in Tom's (@lrocket) direction, there was an engineer with a penchant for the impossible. @elonmusk came asking, "Can you build something bigger?" Tom spent the next two decades answering it, redefining what was considered possible, and helping lay the foundation for a generation of spaceflight that the world is still catching up to. It's impossible to tell the story of modern spaceflight without Tom's story. And it's impossible to tell the story of its future without Impulse. We are sending the best NASA astronauts based on crew rotation, background, and expertise on Artemis III. The same way we sent our best on Artemis II. The same way we send our best astronauts to the International Space Station, where the recent Crew-10 through Crew-13 assignments ALL include female commanders and crews that are no less than 50% female. Not because it was a requirement, but because they are the best astronauts for the job. Celebrate the Artemis III crew the same way we will celebrate all crews who follow that will walk again on the Moon.

Sally Ride June 18, 1983, First woman in space, and by far not the last. NASA's astronauts are selected for the assignment to meet the objectives set forth in the mission. Also availability of an astronaut and training are prime factors.

We call them "header tanks" mainly because of their location, but they don't need to be positioned at "the top" in a vehicle!๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

Since Watergate is trending, here's some concept art from Stargate: SG-1, season 4 episode 7: "Watergate" #ใ‚นใ‚ฟใƒผใ‚ฒใ‚คใƒˆ A great episode with a lot to love about it, but two things about the production stand out for me. ย The first was Paulโ€™s ballistic reaction to the scene in which a frozen Maybourne is discovered. ย In this case, Paul (aka Captain Logic) could not accept the fact that someone could be frozen in a standing upright position. Rather, he argued, if you were freezing to death, you would be hunkered down, trying to keep warm. ย The fact that Maybourne is discovered on his feet, frozen solid, suggests a sudden freeze โ€“ which isnโ€™t what happened here. ย Anyway, it wouldnโ€™t be the last logic issue to set my writing partner off, but it was memorable for being a fiery first. ย As for the second thing that stands out about this episode for me: the title. ย I swear, I thought Rob was kidding when he said he was going to call it Watergate.

Pit stop on the way to the Moon. FLIP headed to Element U.S. Space & Defense this week for final preflight testing. First up: Mass Properties testing. This provides final details about characteristics like the roverโ€™s center of gravity and moments of inertia. Next on the docket: vibration testing and the roverโ€™s last thermal and vacuum chamber (TVAC) test. The Moon is harsh and unrelenting. But these tests ensure FLIP is ready.

Piece by piece, the ULTRA Structural Model (SM) has been coming together. ๐ŸŒ˜โ€”>๐ŸŒ—โ€”>๐ŸŒ• These photos capture the final moments of a key integration activity for the ULTRA lunar lander's SM ahead of the testing campaign. Guided by precise crane operations and careful manual adjustments, our engineering team aligned the upper assembly with the lander's primary structure before successfully bringing the two together. This operation marks the completion of a key phase of SM assembly, preparing the hardware for its next chapterโ€”testing. #ispace #ULTRA #LunarExploration #AIT #Engineering #Teamwork
