Surveillance pricing is completely separate from loyalty programs. They don't need to monitor what you buy in order to give you one cent back on every dollar spent. Evan Solomon is mixing these together hoping you aren't smart enough to know they're different.
While unveiling the government’s privacy bill, Minister @EvanLSolomon says he’ll ask the new data protection regulator for guidance on surveillance pricing, while stressing the need to preserve consumer perks like loyalty programs.

The Liberals have been gaslighting Canadians since grocery store goiging has begun. Min Champagne is the leader of the gaslighting pack. These people are reprehensible. Canadian’s will catch on eventually. When?

The federal government has finally acknowledged the practice of surveillance pricing, months after the NDP raised the alarm and sparked a national conversation about it. But the bill doesn’t ban this disturbing practice - in fact, it doesn’t even mention it by name. Instead, it just promises vague regulatory action in the future. In contrast, Wab Kinew’s NDP government in Manitoba is simply making the practice illegal. That’s the only way to stop big tech and big grocery chains from teaming up to gouge consumers. We’ve put this issue on the table, and we’ll keep building public pressure on the government to act decisively: today’s bill does nothing definitive to protect Canadians from this very real threat. thestar.com/politics/federal…

You have to read Bill C-34 on The Commission to believe it. It sets the rules on age verification, social media bans, and content removals while serving as combined regulator, investigator and advocate. At the start, Chair alone can be the full Commission. x.com/mgeist/status/20665288…
The kids’ social media ban gets the headlines, but my post argues Bill C-34’s most consequential element may be the Commission, a super-regulator overseeing the system with its own rules of evidence, potentially secret hearings, and wide-ranging powers. michaelgeist.ca/2026/06/thec…

Maybe the best solution for the Billy Bishop Airport is to close it entirely and reclaim the space for Torontonians to use as parkland. We could call it Toronto Place Park.
Those with private cottages don’t need urban green space. The Toronto Islands are an irreplaceable waterfront experience for city residents who have nowhere else to go. @fordnation @Peter_Tabuns @juliedabrusin @MarkJCarney @NoJetsTO

Look closely at this photo @VancityReynolds posted, and you’ll see the massive dirt piles of the West Island of Ontario Place. Doug Ford destroyed a beautiful, bustling, waterfront park and animal habitat, all in service of a European MegaSpa company. #onpoli

with the water demanding data centres for mass AI surveillance, could this project be for something other than what they are saying? Or they want their private Epstein island in the center of Toronto like their plan in Albania? x.com/newsincontext1/status/…

Ah, yes, the spa that actually fronts for 'something else.' A spa looks legitimate/innocent to deceive observers. Although the spa is only 1 part of the revitalization, why is a 3,500-spot parking garage needed at the waterfront? That's a massive amount of parking! #ONpoli 🅿️🚗

Again, Metrolinx is for money laundering. Building and maintaining transit is the front.
So evidently they built the Eglinton Crosstown (Line 5) without a forced air circulation system, relying on “passive air circulation”. This results in sopping wet platforms on humid days, all in the name of “saving some energy”. Crazy design decision @Metrolinx.
